94 Suburban ~ No Start
I have a 1994 Suburban 6.5L TD. I only bought this truck a few months ago, and have been having issues from the beginning. She would die out while driving down the road at 50-55, but not if I was babying it. The truck has always been hard to start, but about a month ago she stopped starting all together. I sent it to a mechanic that I used to favor, and got nothing but bs from them. They basically told me to junk my girl! I have no intention of letting her go, so now I need help. I found a 96 Suburban online for relatively cheap, but I'm wondering if the Computer from that truck will work in mine, and what I'll have to do to properly replace it. Also, I know where to find my PCM, but I haven't the slightest clue where to find it in the '96. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I'm brand new to the world of diesel, but I know if I get this truck running right, she can be mine FOREVER!!!!

The pcm should be behind the glove box on the right side. Has your pmd pump mounted driver been relocated out of the engine bay or off the factory loction, which is the injector pump? The pmd causes stalling when overheated and you probably need a new one if you don't know its history. It could be the IP but the pmd is a good starting point. How many miles on the Burb

94 is obd 1 96 is obdII,so no the computers are not interchangeable.
Need to start with some diagnostics. If you crack open an injector fuel line and crank the engine does fuel come out the line? Does the lift pump run while cranking? When was the fuel filter last changed? Where is the PMD/FSD located? |
Don't hate your mechanic, most mechanics are idiots :) when it comes to diesel lets get this girl running! Air cleaner and agreed fuel filter! How did the engine sound? Smoke?
