82 6.2 stalling

i have a 1982 chevy with a 6.2 after around 20 min of driving when motor warms up it will start dieing like im running out of fuel
after it dies i will leave key in run position and let fuel pump run then it will start back up and i will get another few min out of it after sitting for a hour i can drive another 20 min
i replaced both fuel filters and the electric fuel pump yesterday and it still dose it i am getting a good flow of fuel to ip
i am in need of some help or ideas or things to check thanks guys!

Maybe the tank vents are plugged?? That would create a vacuum after a few minutes of running. With the engine off, key on, and the electric fuel pump running, it should only be circulating the fuel to the IP and back to the tank. Does it work that same way if you just turn the key off after it dies?

Try to leave the tank filler cap loose and see what happens. If it runs great and doesn't stall, then your problem lies with the tank vents.

With gas cap loose "off" it still will stall"
And when it does die and I try to immeaditily restart it I need to leave the fuel pump running for a bit. But if I just leave it off for an hour It will start with little or no hesitation

Are there any ill effects when the engine is still cold? Or is this only when it has warmed up completely?

just when it's warm I'm very worried about an injection pump someone please tell me it's something stupid

You can rule out the IP buy pouring water over it next time it dies,If it starts back up instantly it is IP if it does not then IP is good.

So your saying the water would cool down the ip and it would restart?

Yes.

Going for a drive right now waiting for it to die

That's not helping I'm on the side of the road next to a ditch plenty of water

Update I have discovered " while sitting on the side of the road" that when I remove the wire on the ip for the fuel shut off that it was not getting 12 v with key on. so I tryed to jumper the wire straight to my + battery termail and that did not fix the issue ither

Sounds like a faulty shut down solenoid that gets an open circuit when heated?
