Survey on PMd FSD heat dissipators
 

I relocated the PMD. I used the smaller blue heat dissipator. I sanded off the paint on the contact area and applied thermal paste before joining the PMD to the heat dissipator. I bolted the PMD to my left wheel well. After driving around for an hour I felt the heat dissipator. It was hot to the touch such that I could not leave my hand on it. I am curious how much heat others are feeling on thier heat dissipator.

What kind of heat dissipator do you have?
Where is it located?
After you drive long enough to stableize the temperature can you leave your hand on it?

I had the large FSD heat sink on my 1994 and it would run hot to the touch but I had mine mounted behind the front bumper it's easy enough to do with that cable you have I used a peice of angle iron with a split on the one side to make the bend in the middle of the bumper then mount the heat sink to the angle iron and bolt it in place

It rains a lot here and under the hood is more accessable so i elected to place it in the engine compartment. Rumer has it that temperatures are not that great that distance from the block. I am just double checking with folks to make sure. You have more air and a larger heat dissipator but yours is still to hot to touch. That makes me think I am not to far off.

Get it out from under the hood.

It should have a weatherpack connector just like the LP and look at the environment it has to live in and does so just fine.
The paste also seals it from water.

Heath Diesel did a test and ran a PMD on his heatsink(large flat aluminum plate)in a bucket of water-no problems.
Don't be afraid of road grime giving you grief.

I have the same heatsink under my bumper and it only ever gets warm-I also have a larger heatsink combo nearby for emergency changeover.A dummy pigtail keeps the spare clean.

I use the FSD mounted like your under the front bumper on the Suburban and it would get 'warm' to the touch but never hot.
