6.2L secondary fuel filter?

I hate changing the secondary fuel filter (the one under the air filter on back of manifold) on my 82 6.2L. I'm trying to figure out an alternative (easier to get to) mount for it, but haven't come up with anything yet.

Does anybody have any suggestions or solutions that they have used?

I spoke to a diesel mechanic today that suggested that it didn't need two filters, that I could just do away with it. I would be fine with that as long as it doesn't lead to problems down the road. It's the only transportation I have, so I can't afford any down time beyond rerouting the plumbing.

Any ideas would be appretiated.

Thanks Racer!

After searching all day I think I've come up with a set-up that will work. I don't want to try to remount the original filter base (afraid of cracking or other wise messing it up). I found a WIX #24770 filter base that I can use a Wix 33352 filter on. That should give me the same 6 micron filtration as original. The only thing I'm not sure of is the flow rate. The original filter is rated at 6-8 gpm where as the new filter is 12-15 gpm. Not sure if it could overload system used to 6-8 gpm.

Also, what should I use to seal the threads on the new fittings of the base (I've heard teflon is no good for fuel).

Thanks again Bulletbandit!
