Diesel dump

I'm looking to get the best of both power and mileage. I just replace the motor due to a cracked block. Starting from scratch I just put a 4" exh and cold air intake. This truck needs to pull 10k and hold a load . What do you guys recommend and from where. I don't mind shopping around to get the best stuff. The truck is a 98 auto 4x4.

Sorry guys- first time- truck is a 98 chevy 3500 with 6.5 .

Heath diesel makes a ECM upgrade that is supposed to give a 40hp boost and better mileage while towing. Other than that, buy a holset hx40wII turbo and crank it up some. Don't exceed much more than 15 psi or you might find your engine parts laying on the road somewhere.:td: You can exceed the 15 psi if you put 18:1 compression pistons in there and crank it up to over 25 easy.

Thanks- do you think an inter cooler will help any? I've heard it will get me a little more mileage.

They were actually talking about intercoolers on another thread a bit ago. Most members agree that the the only time you really see benefit is when you're making more than about 12 psi, I'd say if you went with the hx40wII turbo, go for the intercooler as well, since it can pull a greater volume of air than the gm-series turbos. If you keep the stock turbo, its probably not worth putting an intercooler on it. If you want to keep the stock turbo, you can make a mechanical wastegate for pretty cheap, but most people end up getting about 2 mpg less, this lets you crank higher boost out the stock turbo.
