6.5 head gasket

Hey yall just found out a truck i bought with the 6.5 turbo diesel has a blown head gasket. I plan on just taking the whole engine out and re-doing the whole thing. I have done this with many gas engines but i dont have much experience with diesels.:s: I was wondering will it effects anything if i bore out the cylanders bigger then what they came out of the factory with??:humm: Are there any other problems i may run into yall can warn me about? FYI yes im going to resurface the heads and re do the valves.:tu:

The precombustion chamber bowls will need to be machined to allow the pre cups to sink in the head the same amount that you intend to resurface the heads.

Check the main webs for cracks near the outer main cap bolt holes as well as check the bores for cracks-pressure testing is a good idea.

Overboring is common-let the machine shop guide you on what is safe and/or get the bores sonic checked for good measure.

Throw the stock crankshaft away and get a scat crank with a new balancer and frt drive pulley-fluidmaper is expensive but worth it.Balance the rotating assembly if the budget allows.

+0.010 head gaskets are needed for decked block or milled heads.
ARP head studs for a 6.2 are also a wise investment.
New oil pump, new water pump and timing set are obvious.

DSG sells main girdle kits if the budget allows that as well.
