6.2 diesel 150 hp 330 lbs torque

I've got what appears to be a 1985 c code 6.2 diesel with v belts.

I have the hummer headers to put on it.

What else do I need to do to get 150 hp and 330 lbs of torque?

I plan on getting the heads machined and the largest valves I can Put on it. A friend of mine who drag races motorcycles recommended this.

He also recommends getting the intake match ported. I think those were his words.

While I'm in this engine messing with stuff, what else should I do? He also recommended a tuned cam shaft since I already know I will likely keep the engine rpm on the low side.

What do you guys think?

Those mods are overkill for that engine.
Larger valves may hurt performance on a naturally aspirated low rpm engine.
There is an aftermarket camshaft option for turbo 6.5's but again would likely hurt your performance.
Port matching the intake is also more added expense than real world gains on that engine.

If you want real help with it consider a banks turbo kit,or get some 6.5 turbo manifolds(intake and exhaust) and a 92,93 turbo.

I would also use an electric LP from a 93 6.5 activated by the 6.5 oil pressure switch/harness and a OPS relay mod(google it).
Might need to turn up the 6.2 IP fuel screw some.

What I was mostly wondering was what the military 6.2's had that my 6.2 doesn't...different exhaust and intake? Is that it? Same valves?

Mostly the differences were intake, exhaust, cooling, venting to prepare for going through deep water, from what I have recently read.
