My first was an 88 ranger. First time I ever drove by myself I was on a back country dirt road. Being alone I was driving fast, having the ass end kick out, up till I started goin down a hill around a curve and a ups truck was coming up it. Well being a dumbass kid, I slammed on the breaks. Started fish tailing bad, ended up doing a 180 and hitting a Grader pile getting truck up on two wheels. Damn near rolled it. A year later we traded it off along with my dads 88 ford bronco for my 98 ranger

Was your dad pissed you nearly destroyed that truck? Thats a cool story!

I learned to start driving at 7 years old in my dads lap. Tje day I asked him if I could drve for the first time, we were riding in the cow pasture in his 2000 (90s square body style) crew cab chevy dually pulling an empty 32 footer cattle trailer. I asked him of I could drive, and he scooted back his seat, lifted the steering column, and told me to hop on his lap. I meant after we unhooked it, but I wasnt about to turn down the chance to drive after asking to, so I jumped imto his lap smiling ear to ear. I brought my dad and then ten year old brother closer to heaven that day. I did not know you were supposed to turn wide when you were pulling a trailer, and I was barely able to see in the gap between the top of the steering wheel and the top of the dash. I still remember that like it was yesterday. One thing I really liked about that truck thoe was the power seats. They are great when you turn nime and get to drive with dad in the passenger seat.

When I was 17 I bought a 1995 Dodge dakota that the guy I was gonna buy it from sold it when I told him I was comming to get it and it was a three hour drive, a week later they guy that bought it couldent use it for his purpose of hauling gravel into his back yard, he needed a UTV not a truck lol, any how a year ago my neighbor backed into the bed of my dakota and had the insurance company come out and give me a $1980 check, and I only paid 2300 for the truck, so i used that check to buy my diesel, and pay my taxes and registation and then sold it for $1250 :tu: and now have a much better truck, that dakota had 237K on a 3,9L v6 and needed a tranny rebuilt..

First time i learned how to drive a pick up was when i was 7, it was a lifted 78 ford f150 ranger with a 460. Reg cab long box black with red interior.. flying down a gravel road at 55 in my fathers lap.. ill never forget that day.. my first pick up was a 94 dodge Dakota bought some eagle alloy 058 for it 3.9v6 for a v6 that was a powerful little motor.. it was black ill have to put some pics up later, first pickup I went mudding in, I loved that little truck, but that winter on my way home I was on some black ice lost control rolled it 7 times got ejected truck rolled over top of me.. my buddy that was with me told me the next day i was more concerned bout my truck then I was bout myself... If i could find another one like it id buy it build it the way I wanted to do my first one. so i could have my first truck again and my cummins!

Truck Guy99 09-18-2012 01:47 PM

CR9712v 09-18-2012 02:25 PM

well with my bronco, i was at wal mart with my grandmother(dont ask).. but out of nowhere my step dad calls and says hey i found you something you were looking for so i didnt know what to expect. with him it was probably an old bike or something. Came home and a beautiful bronco was sitting in the driveway. he said heres the keys you pay for the rest. and wallah... :tu:

Truck Guy99 10-04-2012 05:40 PM

Cool story man!! You are killing my soul about why ya were there with your grandma. I know it was something you probably just did to help out part of the family. Did he make you take your grandma there so he could bring it home? Anyone else got anything?

CR9712v 10-04-2012 05:58 PM

i love my mawmaw! haha... nah but i guess it fell into a masterplan of his to get it while i was away. yeah we need more stories, i know some of these guys have had like 20 or so vehicles but theres always that first one! :pca1:

Truck Guy99 10-05-2012 10:06 PM

There IS always that first car or truck that you either love to this day, wish ya would've never sold, or one of those "I couldn't wait to get rid of that piece of junk!" I am probably buying a cummins or a ford turbo diesel and doing a cummins swap later so I can keep my first truck forever. Anyone else got storys?

Truck Guy99 10-11-2012 07:12 PM

Hellllllllloooooooooooooo??:w2::hellox:

joshbaker 11-21-2012 08:49 PM

well my first vehicle was a 97 neon. nice car till my brother drove it into a tree. replaced it with a 2000 neon 5spd. even better once we slapped a turbo on it. then got a 95 dakota v8 4x4 at the same time. was poor so i cut the fenders until 33" mudders would fit. All in high school.
