Somebody Explain Me To Me

I've been ponderin somethin for a long time now and I still can't make heads or tails of it so maybe somebody out here can. I bought my truck in 1999 and by 2000 I was slappin parts to it startin the build up. My question is why. I've spent thousands through the years in dollars and hours workin on a truck that ran great and did everything I could ever need it to before I even started.

I've never had it on the dragstrip, I've never used it to pull a sled, it's never been in a show and it sure isn't a Dyno Queen. Only been dynoed once in all the years. This is an everday driver and work truck. It does pull some heavy loads up around 30,000 pounds at times. But the first thing I do when I hook a trailer up is turn all the power chips off cause I don't like the heat and the truck doesn't need them to pull anyway. So that can't be why I do it.

I have had it across the country several times on trips and have had it up as fast as 115mph when it was new. I didn't have the gadgets on yet then and now days I might get up as fast as 80mph on occasion but even that's rare anymore. So evidently I don't need the mods for that.

I have even had a 4 bottom plow behind this truck and plowed my pasture with it. Put it in 4 low and spent hours goin up and down the rows. I didn't have the box turned on to do that cause I wanted to be sure and keep the temps down. So I don't need em for the farm work. Even though this was a one time thing cause my tractor was dead and I needed to get it done.

I don't even turn these things up that high while I'm drivin around the streets cause I don't wanna smoke out innocent bystanders that just happen to be behind me. So I don't need em for that either.

So somebody tell me why I have spent all this time and money on a truck that if I hadn't done all of this I would have long since traded off and had me a new one by now anyway. Now I can't trade it, I got to much money in it.:baby: :argh: :ph:

Don't get me wrong here, I'd do it again givin the chance. This is a disease that needs a cure.

Blue is the question

Red is the answer

If you would have traded it in, you would have lost more money then you invested and would have had to re invest in all the goodies just so you could do things that you wanted to do.

I like the old saying " Better to have something and not need it (or use it) then to need it and not have it."

You may not go to the drag strip or sled pulls. but with all the goodies you can if you want to.

Honestly the only thing I can tell you is because you enjoy it. I know that I enjoy wrenching on my truck and other friends trucks. It gives me a chance to unwind and relax. Even though some times I can get mad at the truck that I am working on, I know that it is not something that I do every day, I wrench to relax. It breaks up the monotony of life and work, gives me something to look forward to durring the week when I am at work pluggin along.

All this came to mind cause I'm strugglin right now to not order me one a those fancy new Adrenaline boxes. I keep thinkin, why in the hell do I need it. I just got my Comp back from Edge so it's all udated now and I haven't even had a chance to try it out yet. I don't even use the power that it put's out so I'm wondering why I think I need something that makes more. It's deffinatley not like I got the money burnin a hole in my pocket.

I was going to buy a new '06 in the summer of 2006.

Then I thought, I have an '01.5 that is a smoking' truck and I did invest maybe 5000.00 extra into it.

Then again I though, if I buy a new truck, I will be investing another few thousand into a stock truck, so I decided not to get the new '06.

Since then, I have put another 5000.00 into my old '01.5.

It is a disease, and if anyone wants to buy my truck, I would look at a used '06.

By the way, I am asking $47,452.00 for my truck (that doesn't quite cover the upgrades...).

It's not a bad thing to think about what your buying or not buying......

I ran out and bought the Edge Drag Comp, then who knew, within weeks, Edge announced the Edge w/attitude. Too late, already bought my comp.

I ran out an bought MBRP exhaust. Awesome, price, then MBRP shows up with the same system, in a 5" w/tips, for the same money I just spent.:argh::argh::argh:

I'm a big fan of waiting (now). Get through the initial rush, see what bugs appear and get worked out.

But by the same token, if you can afford the adrenaline and really want it, go for it.:U:
It's only money, right? :c:
