Buying A Truck Need Help
ok, i'm looking at buying a commuter truck...
i found 2 around town. one is a 95 nissan 2wd 4 cyl 5 speed for $300 from Texas it's in good rust free shape but the motor wraps.... so it's going to need a motor.. the other is a 1990 cough cough....ford 6 cyl 5 speed 2wd good shape no rust runs good will take inspection sticker as it sits for $500 the nissan gets better mileage but would it be worth it to put a motor in and still save money? |
Those old Ford 1/2 tons were good trucks. That's what I had when I bought this Cummins and planned on keepin it till I dropped the tranny out of the bottom of it pullin a load a rock down the highway. Back in them days I wasn't gonna touch a tranny and they wanted more to fix it then the truck was worth.
The one in Texas is gonna cost a fortune just to get it home even if you haul it yourself. Even more if you hire it done and then you still have the cost of the new motor. This is all assumin that everything else in it is as promissed and the trannies not shot or somethin worse that he's coverin up with the bad motor excuse. |
the nissan truck is 5 miles away from me. it's here... it's just from texas. they are both right here in town less the 5 miles away
getting parts is no problem... i have 4 2wd ford trannys sitting in my shop. they are real easy to out in and take.. nissan trannys are a bit more difficult due to being a small truck. but parts are still easy for me to get.. |
Are you thinking most about fuel economy or just picking up chicks? :bb:

lol i'm married. my wifes family lives an hour and a half away from me. i usually drive up on weekends.
we are racking up milages like mad. her car is a 2004 chevy cavalier we bought it new and already have 80,000 mile on here car.. fuel milage is always good. i might do some mods on what ever truck to see if i can gain some fuel milage.. i can get some free fuel at the salvage yard the guy gives it to me. |
:humm: How far do ya gotta commute? Do ya need a truck? I wouldn't think either one of them would be to efficient on fuel?

My first truck was 95 Nissan 5 speed with a 4 banger. It was 4wd I loved that truck. I could never get it stuck. it would go places in 2wd that my dads 94 F250 couldn't in 4wd. Its only downfall was there not very fast unless you wind the motor up. On the Interstate I don't think you will find a more nimble truck. I will say this they can take a beating i have a movie that me and a friend made of the truck 2 feet in the air with me driving at around 45 mph i also flooded the engine (water was in the floor board) in the creek it killed the engine. but fired back up I put it in low range and it walked to shore. got on a incline and blew the water out she went another 15K before we sold her to a farmer after i bought my 98.5 Im still looking for another one except with a V6 and ext cab just to beat around on.
