I will vote for any style that doesn't make me put one on the front of my Jeep or Camaro.

TCU Fan 02-05-2008 10:07 AM

I don't like them on the front either. But both my wife and I have received tickets for not license plate. On the new car I am going to use the excuse no bracket and see how far that goes.

LeadfootDuramax 02-05-2008 10:57 AM

It might work for a bit. My Jeeps front bumper has no brackets and I have gotten away with it every time. One officer told me it was my responsibility to put brackets on and he would give me a ticket next time. I moved before I saw him again. I have been given grief about it on inspection a couple of times.

My wife's Camaro already had the plate mounted when she bought it so I have left it, but I think it looks like crap.

i love that one i also voted for it, im excited to see em on the cars now

I got pulled over by a state trooper in my old car that had no bracket for the license plate. He told me "I dont care if your car came with one or not the law is the law" gave me one week to get a license plate on it. Most of the time I got tickets I would just tape the license plate to my bumper take a picture of it and go to court to get it dismissed. Im guessing he probably saw how many times I had been pulled over for it and wasnt going to cut me any slack.

O.K. This thread is not about the front plate, it is about voting for NEW style plates.

DangerousDuramax 02-05-2008 05:04 PM

Currently the "Lone Star Texas" design is winning by a landslide. The new plate will also include a 7th letter.

2500HeavyDuty 02-06-2008 12:07 AM

oooh 7 letters....:humm: custom plate  i call dibbs on DURAMAX!!

The personalized plates are still the plain white and limited to 6 letters. :madd:

NukleusX 02-06-2008 04:02 AM

I like the design pictured in the plate that is in the original post-

As to say for a front plate, I dont see why its such a big deal, if its the law its the law. Have one- I mean... granted if you have a winch bumper up front or whatever, I really dont see any other problem- We're all Americans here (cept for the Canucks and a few others) but I mean yeah... Cant we just abide by the law?

The new one looks good, better than the old one. At least there is color. We had a blue plate with white letters for 10 or so years here in the 80's and 90's. Guess we were trying to save ink??

Yeah, but are they stamped out by convicts?

DangerousDuramax 02-06-2008 10:09 AM

The plate itself is but the artwork, colors, and reflective overlay are installed by 3M at a plant in Brownwood, Tx. Not sure what the convicts have to do with us choosing a new plate though.

LeadfootDuramax 02-06-2008 10:52 AM

I don't mind a design, but I think they look bad when there is too much and it looks like a painting on my bumper.

DangerousDuramax 02-06-2008 10:55 AM

lol Dave, shut up and get the plate. You KNOW you want it. :)
