CB & dual whips
 

Okay guys I'm really thinking about putting a CB in my truck. The only thing I'm concerned about are the antennas. I'd like to run dual whips just behind the cab. What size should I get for the best function and good looks? My truck is a 93 C2500 RCLB.

I got dual 4 footers and there plenty big. I only have one hooked up because I was getting weird interference when both were hooked up. So the second is just cosmetic lol. I hear the longer and bigger gauge your cb antenna wire to the cb gets better signal and such.

I was thinking of dual 4 footers with an offset 6 or 7'' stack. Bad ass truck BTW. Looks killer! Thanks for the reply too bro.

Yeah no problem! Thanks for the compliment! I love the look of dual antennas lol. Gave me an excuse to buy a cb haha.

Yeah definitely. Right now I have the Firestick fiberglass ones. One is adjustable tuning and the other is just the one where you cut the wire to tune it. But they aren't very flexible. I can hit a garage door or a parking garage and they won break but they sure scare me lol. My dads truck had a wilson 1000 which is metal and it's super flexible lol. That one is tuned by raising it up and down in the little magnetic mount it's in.

The Wilson's are a lot more flexible...I've broken my Firesticks driving through a parking garage...too many hits to the antennas. You can tune duals, it just takes a bit more, and is a bit harder. I did it on my 97, and it works fine. I went with a Wilson 5000 on my 96, just because I was feeling lazy and didn't want to have to drill brackets on the truck. The Wilson's have to get tuned both by moving the whip up and down, and also being cut on the bottom. I think I had to cut about a 1/2 in off the bottom of mine to get it in tune.

if you run properly phased duals on a truck it pushes the best signal in front and behind you, and much less range to the sides.

having one antenna as a "dummy" makes it what's called a reflector.. it will actually push the signal pattern in the direction opposite of it, it would make more sense to use both.

i'm not getting technical, but I have plenty of info to share on this subject :)
