Loosing A Pet

Well I went out to my folks house yesterday with my daughter to meet a guy that was buying a seat from me. While I was out there I couldnt find my dog so I asked my dad to keep an eye open for him. He called me later and told me he didnt see him. Well I called back today at lunch and he told me he found him over the hill laying by a tree like he had layed down to go to sleep but he was dead. It was really hard on me since I've had him since 94. The only thing that came out of the whole deal was I didnt have to burry him since dad and my brother did it. Its going to be hard for me to go out there now since he always met me when I was getting out of the truck. I guess the pup has some big paw prints to fill now.

I'm sorry man, I've lost a few good dogs here in the past few years, even a Boss Hogg, he was rotty pup, some sorry dogs led him to the road, and as the old saying goes, the mutts never get hit. I say go to the pound and get another.

Sorry to hear that man. I know exactly how you feel. My dogs are sometimes the best friends I have. They are always there for ya. It's like family. Sorry Dude

I'm just tired of loosing shit. I dont have much left to loose anymore. My brother brought home a pup right before thanksgiving that he could care less about so he will probably let me have him. He will have some big paw prints to fallow. That was the best dog I've ever had.

I know how you feel lost a dog about 10 years ago then my wife got a chocolate retriever to take his place now the lab is ten and showing his age my dogs go with me almost everywhere I go just like losing a good friend.

DazedandConfused 01-28-2008 09:58 PM

Yeah I think the new pup is going to start traveling with me.

Well that sucks Andy - theres not much harder than losing a friend.

LOGANSTANFORTH 01-28-2008 10:53 PM

growing up on the farm I always distanced myself from that cause I never had any real attachment to them cause they were all strays that we took in and sometimes they would get hit, some would wonder off, and some would get stolen........i have had a few that were good dogs though.......sorry to hear about your loss Andy.....

Sorry to hear about your loss. A dog is just like a member of the family. Putting my last dog to sleep was the hardest thing I have had to do. I thought I would not ever want a dog again, but about a year later I was looking again. Now I ahve 2 more and love them. Dogs are the best companions.

It is going to hurt and that is normal. It will get better with time. Just remember, your dogs greatest joy was spending time with you. That is why he would run to meet you. You gave him what he wanted and took care of him. Remember the good times.

That's too bad, Andy. It's never been an easy thing for me to go through. They become such a huge part of your life. Ours are getting older now (both just turned 11) and we know that time is short. Not looking forward to it at all.

i am sorry to hear of your loss. i can only pray that my dog dies in his sleep because i will never be able to sign those papers to have him put down. it is amazing how attached you get to those little 4 legged friends....

DazedandConfused 01-29-2008 11:37 AM

Thanks everyone, guess I need to start spending time with the pup now. I didnt want anything to do with the pup until now.

Sorry to hear about Boss Hog.

My two are going on 13. Guess it won't be long now either.
I think it will be hard on my kids. Not looking forward to that...

That is really sad... At least you can take comfort in the fact that he died peacefully... One of our dogs was attacked and killed right in our back yard this fall. Something(s) jumped our chain link fence and was trying to get after our puppy that was in heat. We think our beagle was defending the puppy and was killed in the fight. That is probably one of the worst things I have ever had to go through. It is still pretty upsetting even after all this time.

dmaxjenn 01-29-2008 04:36 PM

Thats sad, he probably went away to die so you can remember him as he was.. I lost many too,, its heart wrenching.. good luck with the new one, if you get it..

Im sorry to hear about your lose I still remember the day I called home from my 1st deployment over seas and my mom told me she had to put down my dog.

DazedandConfused 01-29-2008 07:21 PM

Yeah I wish he was still here but he was old and deserved to rest. I just hope he wasnt hurting that bad before he went. Dad told me the pup is lost without my dog around.

Dude I'm sorry I know how you feel my old dog ran to a neighbors house and the neighbor put anafreeze in a bowl and we found her dead next to the bowl in there backyard. But just think he's in a better place

Sorry to hear about your loss Andy. hearing about people loosing their best friend is never good. I too know how you feel.

I lost my dog too a few years back. I got him when i was 7 and had him for 11 years. my old man took him out to the front yard to go walk him and he turned around to grab a coat and found my dog ran over in front of my house dead. buried him that night in the back yard.

Still don't know who ran him over cause he drove off before my dad could see him.
