Google
Yesterday, I was at a new home subdivision, the development is brand new ... when I looked out the window and saw a small compact car with a device strapped to the roof.
The car had California plates and the guy was driving up and down every street. He was just driving, not taking time to mark anything down or whatever, I don't know exactly what he was doing. The decals on the car said "Google". I supose the device that was strapped on the roof was some kind of gps reciever, it had an appendage sticking up about 3 foot above the roof. I never thought about it, but I suppose Google is ground truthing the maps the county feeds them and probably Google is quicker to update than the county as well. (My GPS is out of whack in some counties in Texas, the GPS says I am here, the map says the road isn't underneath me.) Each year I update the maps and more and more of the roads get corrected. Anyway, after a couple of hour in the subdivision I drove out and down the road a ways I saw him in another subdivision. (But, this subdivision has been there for 30-35 years.) I guess he is just driving over all of the streeets all over town. |
hmm
we get those red bull trucks runnin around here in the summer |

down here its the same way Solar, some stuff shows up and other stuff dont on maps and mapquest cause they build sub divisions and block off roads and other stuff, so you might have to drive 4 or 5 miles out of your way to get 20 feet from where your at cause they blocked the road off, another thing is there are alot of "cut off" and "bypass" roads through the orange groves and they are sand and they arent listed on maps either......
