Question Self Cleaning Oven

I have a Sears gas Self-Cleaning oven.

How does that work? Do I just push the button that says "Clean" walk away and come back later to a clean oven. Or do I need to time it or open all the windows or put the fire department on high alert or just what do I have to do?

Well, I didn't know we were supposed to clean them either until I got a call from "Dirty Jobs" TV show
wanting their host to come over to help clean mine.

Put it to clean and there should be a latch on the top of the oven door that locks the door closed and that should start it up.

We'll see what happens... I pulled the drawer out from underneath and removed the towel from the door handle... then, I just pressed the Clean button, set it for 3 hours and door locked all by itself.

I'll probably stay awake for the next 3 hours though.

That was easy! It set off the smoke detectors at first, but cleared up after a few minutes of smoking. It actually got pretty hot in the kitchen, because I guess the oven is on full blast. (Both Broil and Bottom burners.)

All I have to do is wipe out the dusty remains from whatever was stuck to the insides of the oven and we're done.

Did you take the wire racks out?

I warped two so I take them out before cleaning the ovens.
