Hahahahah Oh Lord....'86 Supra

Well Guys, first of all DON'T FLAME ME FOR THIS

This is one of the best sites around about not flaming. I'm not posting this in the diesel part, so if your just gonna say something mean, just save it for yourself please.

Anyway, I'm thinking about buying a '86 Toyota Supra. 7mge 3.0 motor, 5 speed, Green. Need's an EGR valve to run. Does anyone on here know anything about them? Ever owned one? Ever beat one? I know if I bought it, I'd rebuild and turbocharge (I have a spare cummins turbo and supposedly with a good head port and polish it can spool it well below redline) I'm not selling my 7.3, and I plan on selling this little guy after having a fun summer with 'em. Dude wants 900 bucks with some r/c cars Im gonna throw in the mix. What are the thoughts?

One of the best 'ricers' ever. Not necessarily that year, but the Supra in general. I heard of a guy once who had one around that era, twin-turbo'd it, as well as all sorts of other stuff, and made around 1000hp. Not sure if that's true or not, (probably not) but I rarely if ever hear anything bad about them. I say go nuts and have some fun!!!!!
Oh, which turbo? HX-35 would be ok, but an HE351 would be better IMHO.

It's an HX35 turbo. And Yeah, I have been reading on ricer forums, and apparently the 7mgte can take wayyyy more than 600hp on the stock bottom end reliably. Six in a row makes it go!

The 2jz-gte is one of, if not the "Baddest" motor Toyota ever made. YES, 1000hp is do able, but you are looking at a dyno/drag monster then. I want one, but the newest one is 16 years old, and to find one is good shape is going to cost you $$$$! Dont nothing go like six in a row!!! :choochoo:

farmingsthelife 11-26-2011 10:26 PM

It's (unfortunatly) not a 2jz, but the 7mgte is like the second most badass engine. Same 3.0l as the 2jz, I think it's just minor differences in design and the fact that the 2jz uses variable valve timing. 7mgte's can still hold the power like a 2jz, just a little harder to get there. And I mean for 900 bucks, what the hell?

The 7m is not a bad motor at all.

farmingsthelife 11-27-2011 10:15 AM

And, if I turn out not to like the Supra, I can always trade it for a foxbody or an SN95 with the 302

GuyWithA24Valve 11-27-2011 06:16 PM

If it were me, I would just go with a 5.0 foxbody Mustang right away. Those things can be just nasty without a ton of money

farmingsthelife 11-27-2011 08:27 PM

That's the thing. Assuming I am rebuilding this 7m with forged internals, turbo-ing, and supporting mods, I can be pushing 550-600hp with about 5 grand invested total. It's hard to find a fox body coupe for 3 grand, and one in decent condition.....:s:

GuyWithA24Valve 11-27-2011 11:17 PM

you'll need to build that supra motor to get that kinda power out of it. With a 5.0, the stock bottom end should be able to handle at least 350 - 400hp.
