No More Ford In Bigfoot.....

after 25 years of sponsorship, Ford drop's Bigfoot cause Chandler refused to run Monster Jam events, Chandler has never much cared for the guys that run in that series as he is the creator of the MTRA (monster truck racers association)......Rumor has it that Chandler has signed with GM......

:(

Diesel-N-Dust 01-06-2008 01:35 PM

Wow that is huge news. Bigfoot has always been a Ford.

Blue01F250 01-06-2008 01:45 PM

wow man, that sucks -- corporate greed vs owner/creator greed...

sucks to see it come to that..

LOGANSTANFORTH 01-06-2008 01:52 PM

well many many moons ago, everyone ran together in the USHRA, they would do multiple shows, bigfoots, mud drags, tractor and truck pulling, funny car pulling and everything was great, then Chandler and a few other guys seperated from them cause of differences and formed the MTRA, the USHRA does the racing and the freestyle, more freestyle than anything here lately, MTRA is almost strictly racing though they do some freestyle at Jamboree events.......but if you have ever noticed sometimes there will be 2 different monster truck shows at 2 different arenas in one weekend??? well usually if one series make a appearance, the other one will too to try and get some of the fans to come watch them, i hate to say it but the MTRA guys arent no where near as popular as the USHRA trucks.....

Blue01F250 01-06-2008 01:56 PM

I hear ya -- just sucks that traditions like that come to an end.. seems like they are happening everywhere

knight rider being brought back as a Ford product, Bigfoot turning into a chevy... I just hate it when people mess with things like that :(

:(:bye: Say goodbye to an era. I've always loved Bigfoot. Seems like nascar is infecting all of motorsports. It's all about the money.

LOGANSTANFORTH 01-06-2008 02:21 PM

the owner/driver of the SAMSON monster truck, Dan Patrick used to work for him, Dan is from Circleville Ohio about 35 minutes from where im from, he was the first person to design a monster truck chassis with a CAD program, he also pulled a multi-engined tractor at a young age then moved up to a funny car sled puller called the WARLORD then he built 2 Coors beer sponsored (why he used Coors i dont know cause he lived 10 minutes from a budweiser distribution plant at that time) sled pulling funny cars and pulled them til he bought SAMSON in the late 80's and went to work for Chandler driving Bigfoot and SAMSON, he later started building his own chassis' and is THE top monster truck chassis builder in the world and he is the rules director for the MTRA.....all of that in a single barn in the middle of a cornfield on Rt. 56 north outside Circleville Ohio....

Blue01F250 01-06-2008 02:21 PM

I forgot about IRO... I mean NASCAR with that COT crap... thats another example

And I thought I watched too much discovery channel....this whole story has been playing all weekend....very interesting!!

Why Coors....simple, they 'offered' to sponsor and Bud refused...

LOGANSTANFORTH 01-06-2008 02:35 PM

hmmm, i didnt know they was showing the story, gonna have to go watch it, most of that i knew cause i remember going and seeing all of those guys run locally when i was young and hearing ALOT of stories from the older guys that i look up too......truck and tractor pulling was really big where im from......we still pull with some of the guys that pulled with him and didnt live that far from him when he first started out in Kingston....

Longhorn 01-06-2008 02:39 PM

Yeah, its the complete history of Bigfoot and how it all started.....Quite interesting story, and great footage from the early days including when they jumped the 747...WOW!

LOGANSTANFORTH 01-06-2008 02:45 PM

LOGANSTANFORTH 01-06-2008 03:02 PM

you do know you can watch something more than once, hence the reason i TIVO the show WHEEL POWER tractor pulling every monday at 5:30, i watch the shows more than once.....that bigfoot show has been on probably 3 or 4 times in the last 6 months, i know ive watched it alteast once.....probably watch it again, just cause ive seen a motorsports show once dosent mean i wont watch it 3 or 4 more times.....hence the reason i know almost every line from the movie Days of Thunder.....

they are one of bigfoots sponsors, ford just got pissed cause chandler didnt want to destroy a truck twice a month at the monster jam events, and i can see that point of view, a complete monster truck is gonna run you 250K easily.....

dozerboy 01-10-2008 08:20 PM

Ya but there must be $$$$ in or grave digger would be long gone. I only saw big foot once back in the 80s. IMO freestyle events are the way of the future, i never cared for the racing, but I did like the pulls and mud bogs.

LOGANSTANFORTH 01-10-2008 08:25 PM

i always liked the wheel stand pulls....
