1989 ford ranger with a 1965 289 v8 any one know about the old mustang engines
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- i onily paid 700 Attachment 40638 |
essentially the same motor as the 302. cant remember if the bore or stroke was different. what code is the engine? thats a good deal. in 2001 I sold an 87 ranger stx 4x4 that i put a mustang 5.0 engine (bored to a 306) with twisted wedge heads, alphabet soup cam, and a edelbrock intake for $3800. they run like a raped date with the hp and torque of a healthy small block. Now that i think back to it, I wish I didnt get rid of it.. It was a lot of fun. I wanna build another one for my boy.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- btw here is info for the 289. btw it is the stroke that is different. 302 is 4.0" x 3.0". 289 is 4.0" x 2.87" The Ford 289 Engine Specs |
thanx man i was just wondering thye ngine now is not wanting to start
whats it doing? on the front of the engine, where the distributor is located, at the base of it is a little bolt. make sure it is tight. I have seen them loosen due to vibrations and hot/cold cycles and allowed the distributor to turn..
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- I also just realized we are somewhat close (well when i am stateside). once i get home next month from Iraq, if you need help feel free to ask. I am a Henry Smallblock know most all lol. i have had multiple ford vehicles with the 302, so i can probably help solve your problems. ALSO if the 289 ever goes bad, grab a 5.0 mustang wotor and throw it your truck with a carb for a nice boost in power and torque. |
cool thanxman i will check that tomarow it raining here and thanku for ur service
well my flywheel is gone that is why it wont start
well thats an easy job. shouldnt take more then 2 or 3 hours total
wow i tjought it would take a while
nah, drop the driveshaft drain the fluid in the trans, disconnect shift lever and kickdown and cooler lines, should be 8 or 10 bolts for the bellhousing, slide it back, then a few bolts for torque convertor, and i believe 6 bolts for flywheel, then put it all back together, and refill tranny
oh that do's sound easy
uggh forgot 2 things.... jack under the tranny so you can maneuver it and so it dont fall and crush you, and unbolting the trans crossmember
my armmm why did u not tell me lol just kidding
while you have the tranny out, might be a wise idea to put in a new filter and pan gasket and put a new output driveshaft seal in it... i mean you will be right there anyways, and you wouldnt have to worry about it later
cool any thi ng else i should do while it is out
