Need a quick answer about rust!
I'm going to look @ a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, 130k, 4x4, original owner, 4L for $2500 bucks. Its a 1st car for my 17yr old. The Jeep appears to be in Immaculatent condition! The only problem is the (R) rear roof, corner is rusted thru!
Thoughts??? Thanks! |
not really a diesle question? but they are great trucks. we beat the hell out of them in the woods and they keep on ticking. seem many of them with well over 250,000 miles on them. not great fuel milage. 15,17ish as for the rust thats up to you. to fix it right its prolly gonna cost you a few $$$ but if its his first truck pill her full of yellow spray insulation and coat it with bondo.
good trucks decent pover and mpgs recomend a 4 inch short arm kit and some meaty tires. |
Dont fill it with foam. Depending on how bad it is you may be able to grind it down and just fiberglass it in. The best thing to do is cut it completely out and weld a new piece of medal in. If you dont have a welder than go with option one. Fiber glass is 100% better than foam and bondo. All the foam is going to do is hold moisture like a sponge and cause more rust! Not saying i havent seen it done haha
:tttt: |
Cutting and welding is the best bet. If your kid has a metal shop class, maybe it can be done in class. If I were in that position, that's what I'd do.
