monster truck kills woman
|
TXDOT shouldn't have even licensed the truck. Gonna be strict laws coming for jacked up vehicles, State and 99% Federal.
Shame what happened to her. No reason she should've been killed. And I don't get the real reason why people do lift kits in the first place. They think it's cool, they think they're bigger men?? One alternate is they got money falling out their :moon: |
yes it's horrible what happened to her. But it is partly her fault i mean they teach you in kindergarden stop look listen and to look both ways yes he shouldnt have been driving but if he was completey sober that still could have happened
|
Tough issue there... Chica should have heard and/or saw a Powerstroke on 44's... Now if he was driving a lifted hybrid, that would be a different issue.
|
Sad deal, Thats like walking right infront of the bumper on a Classic Peterbilt or a W900 Kenworth. The driver isn't going to see you.
I like how the media is calling the Ford a monster truck, a little over board if you ask me |
i think there will be laws on lifts it may not be tomorrow but i believe you'll start to see it. i also agreed there is no need to be that high. in the mud fine but remember your axles are only so high. semi's are one thing and those drivers have to prove they can handle the semi and it's hood height but a huge lift that the guy probably never uses that now killed someone is something different. he wasn't aware of his surroundings. he most likely did not take a test for driving that truck.
|
wow, this is nuts! realy why do people think they need a truck that high? there is a chevy driving around here in idaho that is insane! i am 5'10" and the door hits me at eye level! stupid if you ask me but to each there own
|
that article is attacking the truck when they should be focusing on the drunk driver and the woman who wasnt paying any attention.
Plus theres already laws in most states governing lifted vehicles but i doubt tougher laws will help in this case. More than likely both parties were drunk and not paying attention. I am personally not a fan of trucks that dang big but to each his/her own. In this case, I cant blame the truck for being high, i blame the idiot driver for not only not paying attention but for driving after drinking as well. I also put blame onto the victim. I sympathize for her and her family but had she been paying attention, she probably could have avoided walking directly in front of a running truck. Its not like she was on the sidewalk and he ran off the road, like I said, im sure alcohol played a big part in this tragic incident |
How many accidents happen w/ lifted vehicles?? Screwed up you only hear about the ones where the driver is impaired.
|
Sad story, we had a woman here killed a couple months back when she walked into the path of a municipal one ton dump that was plowing a public parking lot. The plow driver was backing up and never saw her and just like that she lost her life. Worst part is she was on her way into a realtor's office where her husband was waiting for her to close on a house. They realized somthing was going on outside and he went out to find his wife gone. People tried to blame the driver of the truck saying he was going too fast but I wouldn't say it was his fault because he was backing up and I've never seen a municipal truck without a backup alarm. Sometimes by just not paying attention for a second life can change forever, sad :c:

monster truck kills women
This is a sad story but like several of you have said it comes down to paying attention to your surroundings. the thing to remember is that a large majority of automobile involved incidents are the result of someone(s) not paying attention to their surroundings
Even worse is we share the roadways with people like the driver and victim everyday |
most states do have lift laws, but i know most of the souther states the laws are very lax.
like here in pa you have bumper height laws. for trucks front and rear bumpers can not be higher than 30 inches to the bottom. my ford has NO lift on it and still clears 40's, dont need a lift to go big. and after seeign the truck, i know texas has headlight laws, which is why he has the plow lights mounted below the bumper. the upper lights should be inop. if he uses the upper lights it is illegal. but i am sure there is more wrong with the truck. going that big is pointless yes. |
shame what happened to her
in georgia the "legal" lift limit on a truck that is street driven is 3'' but they dont care unless you have closer to 20" lift on it |
no reason to have a truck that high, and probably never sees dirt.dumbass cant even reach the door handle.muscle bound freak boy band lookalike jackass drunk nut. he'll probably sue the family for not raising her right, mr. more money than brains
|
Well if you read the article, the truck wasn't that high. 3 foot tires are only a 35. I think the whole situation was his fault but don't bash his truck. It wasn't the trucks fault. His suspension was a little too high and he looked like an absolute idiot though.
|
those are def 54" boggers to get an idea... in the video look at where the guy stands on the truck... its a huge truck and sorry to hear the outcome
|
I'm picking on the news. I like the dudes truck. Other than being a Ford.

The lifted truck isn't he problem, it's the complete dumbass driving it.
I also like how the article says... "According to the police report, two of the Ford's giant tires, which appear to be at least three feet tall, rolled over McKenzie" Those tires are a hell of a lot bigger then 36's. |
I read this & debated on whether to comment or not. Insanity over ruled better judgement. My truck is lifted I'm running 36" tires, we have lift laws & I'm well within the limits. We have a modified inspection that is done yearly to make sure our trucks are safe and within the laws. I've always driven lifted trucks and NO I'm not a "bigger man" I'm a woman. My former husband was killed in an accident when a guy in a stock truck plowed into the side of our truck (with 42's I might add) at 70 mph and yes alcohol was involved. I'm sorry the young lady passed away, but the truck is not at fault it was the person behind the wheel & she surely could have heard a power stroke running if she was aware of her surroundings. Go ahead & bash me for my opinion, but I do think wild bill was a little harsh with his statement.
|
Agreed... Not the truck at fault... The drunk driver... And the dumb girl walking that close to a lifted truck.
|
There are multiple contributing factors to this accident. Alcohol obviously is primary. Stupidity is a good bet too. But don't discount the size of the truck as a major contributing factor.
My trucks are only lifted 3" but I always try to back in or pull through, because even at that height small cars can disappear from under the tailgate at just the wrong viewing angle. Don't think the truck itself has nothing to do with it. |
Its a sad case of a under educated person owning a jacked up truck. a truck that high is, to me anyways, a show truck. There is no real use to it being that big. I can see having a DD that is lifted 6 inches, but even then it almost seems to be useless as a truck. When we get guys like this driving a truck with god knows how much lift, this type of incident is bound to happen. Let alone if he was to hit a another vehicle hauling a family. You throw some booze into the mix, its a death trap boys.
Now for her, she obviously wasnt paying attention, had the age old attitude of "pedestrians have the right way" and just walked. Always be aware of your surroundings and the dangers out there. It will save you not only pa, but possibly your life, as she could tell you. Even with all that being said, I was about hit by 2wd S-10 the other day walking to my truck in the hooters parking lot. I was aware of what was about to happen when i say the back up lights come on. I gave the truck a knock on the bed and guy immediately stopped when he saw me. Was I right? no, I should not have been walking that close to a vehicle that was running and in gear going in between rows of parking spots. But i was aware of what i was around and avoided a potentially dangerous situation. |
I'm not getting into a pissing match with you guys cause clearly I've got the disadvantage, but i also have an opinion. First off that truck in the article is way over the top, the headlights are over the legal limit for any state. I don't care that he moved them down, it's still illegal. That truck is clearly just a compenstation for a small..... you fill in the blank.
Our truck is a daily driver, plus we use it to pull the dozer and backhoe and it is lifted a total of 14". It was completely rebuilt from ground up and it passed WV's strict inspection laws. I spent every other weekend for a year in 1991 lobbying at the state capital and working with the WV state police to get a lift law everyone could agree on. I think we did okay with a bumper height of 31" anything higher than that you are asking for trouble. I do feel terrible for the young lady's family and also for the guy that hit her, he will have to live with what he did for the rest of his life. We may not all agree on what type of truck to drive lifted, lowered or stock, but it is our right. Okay I'm done this 50 year old woman has spoke her mind, now try to pry my gun from my hands. :c: |
