Throwing A Piston
This looked like it hurt alot.

ouch! i bet the left a mark
it would be cool if you could see close up and slow motion |
safety in motorsports, no matter what it is, should always be number one, motor should have had shields, that was almost 9 years ago though, bike stuff wasnt as big as it is now.....

That didn't look like fun!

I saw this video years back but never thought much about it.
so what part was that laying on the ground after the explosion... bad eyes coupled w/ no computer skills keeps me from seeing what the story is up close. On that motor the pistions drive at/forward of neck of the frame. Between the rider you've got the gas tank ( and if you're not familar w/ gixxers...) the fat of the fuel is back behind the center of the tank. from the middle to the front of the tank you have your air box (and maybe 2" of fuel tank thickness above). Below the air box are the throttle bodies/efi system. in front of which/angled forward are the cylinders. It happens so fast it almost looks like the piston or rod comes apart blasting the tank up and hitting him.... then taking parts off his helmet... but I can't see well enough to figure out what it is. Short of the piston coming through the tank (pretty thick heat sheild and it's cupped underneath at the front also certain explosion) I can't really figure out what that piece is. any guesses... can anyone capture that part and blow it up? |
Ouch!!!!!
