After you pick a laptop for FordDzlman, find me a GPS.

Looking at the sales for black Friday, good prices. I had settled on a Garmin 265T, but now that 5" screens are fairly common, I want one of those. Garmin has the 1450 for $130, TomTom has the XXL540-S, for $100, and Magellan has a 7" for about the same$$.
I checked the ratings and they all seem to have some type of issues.
I need it for work, where I do deliveries for HomeDepot. The sales associates are supposed to get directions to the sites, but are too lazy to do it.
I like spoken street names, don't care about traffic info, music, video, or blue tooth.
So, what do ya'll reccomend?

garmin but if you are doing deliveries to new constuction/subdivisions, the streets may not be in the system, was paving streets the other day and my driver had his gps on the dash of the truck and I had it all messed up because it didn't know there were streets there

some of the new garmin Nuvi have a lifetime map update included in the price... this will help with keeping your maps updated...

I have a 205, a 755w, a 855w and just got a 1490 off ebay for $174 that I am liking very much... if you go to the garmin site you can upload vehicles and voices to help make your experience even nicer AS well as get new map updates... they have the lifetime map update for like $79 right now...

If you find a garmin with the letter T behind it that is specially built for truckers...

Why not get a cell phone with google maps & ya can download a app that will do everything the gps will....only better.....

Gotta agree with Ramprat ..... a decent cell phone with Google Maps is a much better choice. I've had a Garmin for a couple of years and while I prefer them over the others, you have to hook it up to the computer to do updates.

Now the updates are so big I have to load them on an SD card because the built in memory isn't enough to hold them. Since it continues to work flawlessly, I see no reason to upgrade.

If you do go with a GPS, get the Garmin with free map updates for life.

def garmin over TT or Mag.

Thanks for the advice. Company supplies a cell phone with GPS tracker, (also has my routing and time clock) so I'm not buying one. Just got word that company is considering getting GPS units, so I'll hold off until I hear for sure. But if I have to buy it, it will definately be Garmin!!

get it from best buy no matter what brand, and get the warrenty. My sisters Garmin had a couple problems(her fault) and best buy replaced it no questions asked. And even upgraded her model for free.
