2004 Cavalier Brakes

i just replaced the front brakes on my wife's 2004 Chevy cavalier.

the drivers side started grinding so i figured i better take a look.
the passengers side there was still 1/2 a pad left but the drivers was gone!
why is this??

No idea but I have seen this a few times on several different types of automobiles. My Jeep being one of them, had 50% on passengers side and drivers side was gone.
