I got bored at work...

I had some extra time today at work so to help cure my boredom I made a single mag pouch for my XD.
Now, I know next to nothing about working with leather. This definitely came out better than I was expecting. Scrap leather and about 50 cents worth of fasteners. Attachment 44363 Attachment 44364 Attachment 44365 |
good way to kill some time...looks nice

here's a helpful hint for ya next time. Case the leather (get it wet) and form it to the mag. Looks good though. If you wanted you could stitch it too. If you don't know how to stitch you could glue it and then take it to a boot repair shop for them to stitch it for ya. Another thing is buckstitching. Maybe you will like working with leather one day. It's a good thing to kill some time and make cool stuff. My next project is a scabbard for my .270. Keep up the good work! :tu:

How is buckstitching different from "sewing?" I looked it up online and alls there is is books on buckstitching, no "How to" pictures/instructions.

Stitching is with thread, buckstitch is with lace.

Looks better than what I would've done. I don't sew leather, I put pop rivets in it. :tu: To me its function over fashion. :c:

Thats a good point. Guess I never thought about that. Almost all my leather is used for welding protection, and I have had problems with thread getting burned out by sparks. And I can put 10 rivets in something quicker than I can figure out a sewing machine. :argh: :c:
