My House Is Being Invaded

The house next door is a rental and has been vacant for a few months. Now it's gettin cold and the heat is turned off over there so i'm assuming all the mice are migrating to my place. Never had them before so I figure they must be coming from there. I got glue boards all over the place and caught 8 in the last 2 days. I'm hopin I'm at least breaking even. How and the hell do you get rid of these things. Livin in the country it was always just an excepted part of the deal to catch a few at the begining of each winter but I'm in town right now and aint gonna tolerate it in here. How do you get rid of these things. I been all around the foundation and can't find anyplace obvious where they are comin in at.

Get a Cat

Whit 11-04-2007 09:18 PM

electrify yer chain link fence...........mice and small kids will get zapped

seriously call yer local mouse control dude and have em spray shit down inside and outside the foundation

I had one die in the house once and it took me forever to find the stinker...........puked a few times lookin too

Uncle Bubba 11-04-2007 09:27 PM

I don't wanna throw poison just because of the stink. So far I aint caught no babies so I know they are all recent invaders. Didn't know they had spray for mice, I'll have to check into that one.

A cat in the house.:puke: That's a pretty even toss up on which I'd rather have. I bet I got 20 or more barn cats if you want a few but not in the house. I'm tired a feedin them things to. I'm gettin about due to thin a few of them numbers out.

I'm married now, I can't do these things anymore. Now I have to pretend to be what they call civilized, most of the time.

LOGANSTANFORTH 11-04-2007 09:55 PM

bullshit, it came down to me or the rat, i won with the right application of poision and full metal jacketed assault rifle shells......i proved the reason we, as a species, is at the top of the food chain. i layed in the living room for 3 hours with my SKS watching silently into the kitchen waiting on the rat to come out, all the lights shut off except the over the sink light, damned if the little sucker didnt elude me, well i baited him with even more poision, finally i sickened him enough that i corned him in the bedroom and dispatched him with two 7.62mmx39mm full metal jacket rounds......

wanna hear what i did to the 2 coons in the kitchen.........

Miss Minded 11-04-2007 10:10 PM

Mouse traps always worked good for me stick some bologna on it and make sure ya tie it to something just in case ya get a runner we lost a few traps that way:duh3:.

They could have got in from the roof or where your electric lines come into the house.

A. Get A Cat

..... I Love this place :)

If you have a basement/cellar/crawl space do the following.

get a gallon of D-con put it in a pile
then take a 5 gallon bucket and fill it halfway/3/4 the way up. just make sure they cant get out when in there.
then put a 1x4 or 2x4 leaning on the 5 gallon bucket so the rats/mice can get up to the edge of the bucket. you'll be amazed on how many take the plunge.
I've use d-con for many years and only had a stink problem once and it was gone in a day.

Use a flute.
That proved to be working in the town where I was born.
Centuries ago, in the Year 1284, they hired a "specialist" taking care of the rats in the town with his flute. Unfortunately he did not get paid and took all the kids with him. - Did I ever tell that I am originally from Hameln in Germany ...

Dr. Evil 11-05-2007 08:52 AM

Yeah Bubba get youself a flute...lol Im betting you already have the outfit. lol

Along the same lines, squirrels just chewed out my hood blankets on BOTH of my trucks. :baby::baby::baby:

Johnny Cetane 11-05-2007 09:18 AM

We know you already have the tights so you might as well get the flute to go with it. lol

About the truck....put some sheets of "Bounce" fabric softener under the hood and dash. It works good at keeping mice and pests from chewing things. :U:

Are you sayin to put the D-con in the bucket, or fill the bucket 3/4 full with water. Whichever I'm gonna try this and see how it goes.

GRI 11-05-2007 11:26 AM

just put D-con some where in the same area as the bucket.

It dehydrates them so they get retarded and start looking for water then the do the Nestea plunge and die. but if they do get out and have had water their stomach explodes from the d-con.

Uncle Bubba 11-05-2007 12:12 PM

I'm there on this one, thanks.

skynyrd 11-05-2007 12:20 PM

take some d-con and throw it around the foundation of the house next door try killing them before they come over to your place. and i would set up the bucket as well.

yeah I was going to write that too. thats always a good idea

bow2no1 11-05-2007 03:56 PM

how about one of those catch alive traps

they come in a tons of sizes. for mice, rats, raccoons

skynyrd 11-05-2007 07:33 PM

who wants them alive rather them be dead glue traps aren't even that fun cause the mice get stuck then you have to kill them. plastic bag and hammer works good.

Let the little bastards suffer, I just throw em in the trash. They usually struggle around until they get their nose stuck to the trap and then suffocate anyway. If not maybe their squeeks will tell their buddies they're in a bad place and they will scram on their own.

LOGANSTANFORTH 11-05-2007 08:56 PM

will the old "bird" trick work??? feed them dried rice and let it swell in their stomachs til they pop......i wonder???, you could catch them in a live trap then use a stun gun or tazer to wreak vengence upon them....

skynyrd 11-05-2007 09:14 PM

i have seen the evidence that they can work their way out of the glue traps.

DB Admin 11-05-2007 09:19 PM

did you find 4 legs in the trap

skynyrd 11-05-2007 09:20 PM

nah just a lot of hair and part of a tail.

My first couple of days of this I used those little wimpy mouse glue traps. Worthless, they just pulled em around until they wedged under something and then pulled lose. Not no more. I'm usin the big ole rat type glue boards now with thumb tacks to hold them in place. They never fail now. and on a few mornings I've found 2 on the same trap.
