Steve of True Performance Diesel in an accident

Hi DB I hope all is well. As of September 10th 2010 Around 4:30pm a good friend of mine was involved in an accident with his truck. He is Fine physically, he is just shaken up. Apparently his tire blew sending him into a guard rail. Not sure if he is eligible for recourse from the damage done. His truck is in bad shape. It was his only truck, and the one, he used for his mobile repair business and tool sales. He has yet to make a profit, you all know that times are hard and the competition is harder. If anybody would like to send him a word of comfort please log onto his site and send him an email. he is not in a happy place right now and is in need of friends. Any help would be appreciated. I would appreciate it. He is a good Kid with potential. His family has lost two really close relatives this week, first was his grand mother. They're going through a week of hell. Thank you for your time, and please have a show of Diesel Bomber encouragement for Steve and True Performance Diesel!
Thank You!
Rustin

I moved it - because its wasnt in the right forum and thats the job of the people that are on staff. Who other than a staff member do you think would have moved this? Is there a problem with moving it?

The "Diesels in Distress" forum is to help people with their broken trucks - nothing else.

DieselCrawler 09-11-2010 11:09 PM

not to be a donkey cavity, but if u think about it, he was right. they guy does have a diesel in distress and needs help. but needed help in another way.

i think u made right decision with moving it here, just because i think more will see it down here.

Rustin 09-11-2010 11:27 PM

It would have been great to have been notified. I thought I made the right choice puting it there. After all his truck is broken. He was distressed about it. If I offended you Dr. Evil for putting it there. My appologies! Next time PM a person when you do it. It seems kinda rude to do it to thread that is a misstake without notification rather then doing it becuase you can. As far as people seing this the numbers are not that high hear in the bomb shelter. Maybe a new designation would be appropriate.
The Bomb Shelter is for off topic non-diesel related threads. Wich means anything goes aslong as Religion and polotics are not mentioned. This may be the place for it. then again it may not be. What can I say. You have the almighty Power to make the Decision Dr. Evil I don't nessarly agree with it. This is why we live in a democratic society. You make the Call we abide or go.
BTW did you send Steve an email Dr. Evil? After all he is one of your sponsors.

i would have moved it to rustin that is for emergencies only this is the place becuase steve is not a diesel so leave it be it will get plenty of play in here and DB is to big for us to NOTIFY everybody when a post has been moved so post it in the proper place and we wont have to move it

Re: Steve of True Performance Diesel in an accident

This isn't about why the thread was moved.

Get well steve!

Ok Fine! Steve is not a deiesel. but his truck is in need of new skins. like a door and a bed and maybe a lawyer. I don't know I am not upset about the move. I just feel it would have been the right thing to notify a person. How was I supposed to know what was the proper place. I was starting a thread on what I thought was the right place with all of the choices. I know you all are buisy and DB being as big as it is. If you have time to move the thread and it is honorable. then be honorable to let a person know. Reguardless of the problem Forgive me.
Thank you for having a site worth posting in.

#1 - I do NOT have to notify you or anyone else if I move a post or posts.

#2 - I do NOT have the TIME to notify everyone whos posts I move. You have NO idea how many posts and threads that I (and the rest of staff) move in a week. To ask for a notification PM is ridiculous - and its not going to happen.

#3 - AGAIN, the "diesels in distress" forum is for BROKEN trucks that dont run. The goal is getting the vehicle back up and running. Door skins and paint dont qualify as being in "distress".

#4 - this DOES belong in the Bomb Shelter - and if you posted it in the wrong place, which you did, it isnt your place to question where I put it.

#5 - Did I send Steve an email? - No I didnt (which BTW is none of your business) - I am on vacation and havent had the time.

#6 - What is with the attitude?

I am sorry for your bad fortune Steve - trucks can be fixed - the important thing is your alive.

Okay here it goes. I was on twisted mountain highway lost the right front tire and caught the end of the guard rail. Which ripped open the side. I was only was 3ft away from going over the side of the cliff. Had no cell service, and onstar isn't worth shit when you cant dial out. Started walking down the road to get some service. Finally got a ride from a truck driver to take me to where I got service. Got it towed back to the shop. I put the extra set tires and wheels on it. Drove it around the block. I'm still going to check the rear axles internals for damage. More pics coming soon.

Thanks for all of your support.

Steve

Me too and sorry to hear about your family too. Bad things seem to all happen at once. Stay positive Steve and keep your chin up. Things will get better. Time heals all wounds.

Rustin 10-25-2010 02:57 AM

TruePerformanceDiesel 10-26-2010 12:23 AM

Well, it is back from the shop. Insurance covered the whole 11k of damage. I'll pics up tomorrow.

Benjamin 10-26-2010 12:27 AM

that is good to hear, i hate it when Insurance companies give the little guy the shaft and either lowball them for a totaled vehicle or want to lowball what they pay for damage.

is it possible to have a pm automatically sent to someone whose thread you moved without having to go through the trouble of doing it manually? kinda like gettin an email if someone wrote on your wall on facebook? just throwin my .02 out there.

It's no use to ask. Dr. Evil will say they do not have the time. I belive they are all volunteer staff (I could be wrong), some have regular jobs, so their time is limited. It would be nice if they would tell us these things instead of the dictatoral style. Sugar goes along way compared to feeding somebody antifreeze.

be nice my friend. they may not have the time for that cuz they are doin alot of other way better things for the website itself. this thing is ever changing and they gotta stay on top of it to keep it one of the best diesel websites to be on. i dont believe its dictator style cuz you can ask what you want on here and you can give your own advice and your own opinions. im glad they have this website the way it is. dont get your head down bout one little thing though. Mr. Evil did what he thought was right, and in a way you do know that somethins been moved. im sure your thread meant alot to steve but remember that he has family friends that can help him too. all im sayin is dont make such a big deal over one thread. :tu: thats my .02 and i mean no kind of offense in any way Rustin.

No problem thanks for posting. I was just answering your previous post. I might have sounded harsh, it was not my intention. Forgive me DR. Evil! :scare2: I am not down. It would have been nice to know why? That way I would not make that mistake again. Some of the grey areas gets exposed on this site, from time to time. So in hopes of helping this site get better. It is healthy to ask questions, and keep hoping that it gets exposed and fixed. So as to never have anymore problems. Evolution for success is an excellent policy to have. If an entity does not evolve and keep current, or fix exposed problems. They are limiting and setting a wall for issues to overload the system.

Rustin... You say this crap... Then you go over to another site (a dead one at that) and trash this site.

Guess what Rustin, There is NO site that I have ever been on that sends you a PM when they move or delete a post. Not that we have to explain ourselfs.

We leave a redirect almost ALL the time, expiring in three days, if your not back in that amount of time, then the thread must not have been all that important to you. And even then, click your user name and "view all posts" and whlal your at your post or thread.

Here is a bit of advise if you want to stay a contrubuiting member, dont call out the staff. We do this for free, there are no perks, unless you call getting out of bed at 10:30 because your BB when off and trying to save a member who has issues...

What Gray areas... point them out, I would love to see what you call a gray area...

Back to bed for me now...

Dr. Evil 11-06-2010 10:00 AM

Yes Rustin, by all means, point out everything in detail that is wrong with this site - so we can work on "fixing it" just for you.

I suspect the response will be just like when you were bitching about the search function not working. I asked you to show me 10 things you searched for and couldnt find. Im still waiting for that list. You know that you didnt give me the list because your complaint isnt valid.

Its been explained numerous times to you now that we are not going to send you a PM if we move any of your threads or posts. You have no idea how many people post in the wrong forum and how many threads need to be moved in a week. You also have no idea how much time is spent editing spelling, editing thread titles, editing cursing out of the general forum, not to mention working on giveaways, taking care of sponsor needs, requests, and issues, etc etc etc. (there is more). I guess thats not good enough for you? If youve never been involved with running a site - you dont have the first clue about what really goes on behind the scenes here. End of discussion.
