Oil in the Gulf

So where are all the "Save the Gulf" concerts? Where are the TV benefits with the celebrities & musicians giving heartfelt speeches on the poor fisherman, wildlife, beaches, loss of income & sabotaged Gulf economy? I find it strange how these people (including our own government) as so quick to help Haiti & other...countries, but sit on their butts for this American disaster!
:argh:

There aren't any of these benefits because it's not as bad on shore as most people think. I'm stationed on Eglin AFB. It's between pensacola and panama city. The beaches here are still oil free with their pristine white sand. It won't get real bad until the hurricanes start. Then oil will proly make it up to kentucky then:argh:

I'm working in Mobile and have been out across the Bay Bridge several times to the Eastern Shore. I haven't seen the oil yet, but some of the bay fishing guys say its up in the Delta as of yesterday.

i heard about one relief concert but i forgot who was playing. too bad its taken two months for it to happen though. i heard one of the robots knocked off one of the plugs and now more oil is coming out of the hole.

I hope they don't have any benefit's for this whole thing. Any money donated is only gonna be that much less that BP is gonna be held responsible for.

BP already has agreed to pay $20 million to get things started. I have to assume that this amount is maybe a small portion of the money they made that day on interest of the daily profit margin.

Wish I could say I was excited about them having to pay through the nose, but in the end if they pay through the nose so will we.

I live along the Gulf and the situation is getting worse. Pensacola Beach got hit hard yesterday and it doesn't look good for the entire weekend because of the weather pattern.

The feeling of helplessness is overwhelming to me. It is almost as bad as watching a loved one die and you can't do anything about it.

We will all ultimatley pay the price for this disaster, not only financially but the loss of one of our country's greatest treasures.
