Ford/Chevy/Dodge 1/2 Ton Gassers

I have to buy 2 new trucks as soon as tomorrow. They are not going to be diesels. I have 5 Chevy 1 ton vans and I have been happy, but now I am in need of a couple trucks.

Ford is offering 0% interest for 48 or 60 months so they are intriguing but I am not familiar with the V-6 engines. Or the reliability.

Dodge is pretty much giving their trucks away but I do not want to have to pay the high (5.9) interest rates if I can avoid it. I also do not know about there reliability.

Chevy as I said I have 5 gasser vans, all with the 6.0 and I have had no issues with them. Chevy is offering 2.9% for 60 months but the trucks are about 4,000 more than the Ford and 7,000 more than the Dodge but the engine is small v-8 versus what I am used too. They also have the vehicle replacement warranty if the trucks are in the shop longer than 5 hours. That is a plus.

These trucks are going to be driven about 25-35k per year virtually no pulling and not much weight. The only thing I am concerned with is the value of the truck I am getting as it relates to reliability. Money not being an issue any advice or pros and cons would be appreciated.

I have work sheets on 2 Fords and 2 Chevy's both comparably equipped but I want to make the right decision and not necessarily go with the Chevy because of ease of transaction.

Thanks in advance for the input.

so we are talking about the GM 4.8, Ford 4.2 and Dodge 4.7 if i am guessing correctly, well out of those 3 i think i would go for the GM, they have always had good gas motors IMO, if its a 5.3 then its even better

IIRC GM has the highest resale value of the 3 and has had for quite some time. either way you're buying fleet vehicles and when they're priced and sold as such they're not worth much in the end anyway because there's so many of them out there.

i do know this. after spending half my life in a GM dealership i can tell you that GM's v8 motors have very few problems and will most likely get you the highest MPG out of the 3. i know a few people with the latest version of the 5.3's that are seeing 19-20 MPG on the highway in their 4x4's.

I'd go with the Cheby! Nice trucks! Have you looked @ the new Toyota Tundra? That would get my vote if it was in your poll.

yea the new tundra is a very nice truck

I would go Toyota, if they sold a diesel in the States I wouldn't have a Dodge. They make awesome trucks, good quality, good resale value.

I like GM , but I am a lifelong GM guy. I know I am going to get flamed for this but here it goes, I would never buy a toyota, not saying they are not a good truck but they are Jap owned and I try to support American Auto makers, not only that but they had a recal on the new tundra already. GM's V8 is hard to beat in reliability. MY .02

Had a GMC with the 5.3 and loved it never had a problem.

Well I am now trying to get the best pricing between the Ford and Chevy, I went to a Dodge dealership the other night and watched 4 salesman look at me looking. I guess I look to poor to buy a new vehicle.

I have my fleet guy trying to get the best price and interest, whoever that is. That is the one I'll buy.

Thanks for the input, I am like RNB no way in hell would I buy a Toyota.

Yeah, the Chevy.

That 0% is hard to beat, but I think overall longevity (small V8 vs. V6) will be worth it in the long run.

However, even though I voted for the bowtie, the Ford with the 6 will get better milage.

I'll stick with the General on my thinking though, due to longevity and resale.
