has anyone ever wandered?
i was thinking last night while driving my truck home, listening to the new turbo whine increase as i increased my acceleration.... do people think that the whine emitted by a turbo will detur (sp) a deer from running out in front of you? i've seen countless gassburners in the bodyshop cause of deer but not to many diesels. i would think that most of our trucks travel less populated roads and should have a greater chance of hitting a deer..... on a side note before i painted my truck i hit a deer.... i was not accelerating i was idling to slow down to turn into the shop and at about 25mph 2 deer jumped out in front of me and the second one i hitin the hind quarter with my driverside bumper and pushed it back like 1/2 inch.... no biggie.... that was with MBRP exhaust and stock turbo....... so what do you guys think? do you think turbo whine keeps deer away from the road? or is it all hogwash and deer just do whatever the hell they want to?

we have a crap load of deer on the road to my work......they are in a protected area that belongs to the company...anyway they are like pets and will be right by the truck window every day.........its terrible.
I can rap the turbo up and around 2k2100 maybe they will run off shakin their head and alot of times they are in such a hurry to get outa the way they fall down like they are drunk.............a steady rpm dont work so good though |
The reason you don't see many diesels with deer crash marks is cause the diesels are too slow to actually hit a deer :)
Seriously though, grab some wire splices and get one of them pioneers in your truck before you go crazy |
I think the turbo whistle brings em in if anything.

Well, some deer are just plain ole stupid and will do what they want and others are p*ssies and run off so I don't really know how to answer it.

Had a deer run across the road in front of my '99 CTD. Had the Warn brush guard/winch combo on at that time. She didn't survive, left a tiny little mark in the passenger side fender that must have been from a tooth. The bumper was messed up and the plastic behind the headlight was broke but luckily no other damage. Took the money for the repairs and replaced the factory bumper with a Buckstop full replacement

When deer are on the move, they don't give a crap what they hear or what is there way. Even a moving, brusing truck. Think about when your in RUT!!!:bl:

I voted, they just do what ever they want....... |
yah i gotta go with option #2. see a ton of semi vs deer accidents up here.

It sooo doesn't matter what you're driving. Deer are going to cross the road and deer are gonna die. LOL! Plain and simple.

Up here on active logging sides, even through all the noise, clatter, banging, turbo-whistles galore, the deer show up out of curiosity.
Same goes for the rural site jobs we do--bridges, roadwork, bankline shoring, etc. They pop up out of the woods to investigate where all the noise is coming from. I voted for them doing what they wanna do. |
