It's one thing when it's your time, but being stupid and checking out early is all on you.
If you hit a power pole, you got to be very careful, your going to have 3-10 thousand volt lines on the ground, your best bet is to stay in the truck and don't touch anything metal, stay in the truck and call for help.
They may look dead, but it will be you instead, I watched a car years ago knock down a pole and the wire parted beside me on the Bike, I had to close my eyes at 45 to keep from being blinding for the arc.
I got her out and away from the car, but as I was coming up to the car I had to pass under the line that was 5 feet off the ground hanging in a tree 40 feet down, it should have be dead, as I passed under it I started to reach up and touch it but the lineman's training I got in the Seabee's taught me to never touch even a dead line without lineman's gloves on.
After I got her out and away, that line I walked under, got ground and burnt through a 4 inch branch and hit the ground and start digging a trench a foot deep before they got the power shut off.
So but for the grace of God and my training I wouldn't be here today.
