Anyone else cook a Steak for 2 and half hours
Did one yesterday, came out good and tender, I been wanting Prime Rib for 3 years, every time I get out to eat with someone their out of Rib, the last time was 6:30 pm???
So I bought some prime 1 an 1/4 inch rib eyes and said to myself, this I prime rib sliced up so figured I'll try to slow cook it a 160 degrees, I think I should have stopped it at rare but went to m-rare, but it was still good. Today I decide to try it at 140 and cook it longer to see if I can get closer to the Prime Rib taste, I let you know how it turns out in 3 hours or more. |
Youre wacky Herb...Did you run out of Alligator?
What are you cooking it with? Using any smoke? |
The best steak I had took over 2 hours to cook; couldn't get a real fire going in the torrential downpour.
|
Used liquid smoke in a table top convection oven, on this one a little salt, But I know we use to cook Prime Rib at 145 for four hours when we do one every Christmas.
I don't know we got out of the habit, but I'm bringing it back and told my brother when the next cow is butchered, to have a Standing Rib roast cut, since my nephew is raising Choice beef cows and he said we will age it too, to get the real high dollar taste out of it. |
well herb i kind of agree with the doc are you a little bored need somebody to call and go chase gators :w2:
|
NO just planing way ahead of time, working on the house across the street so I had time to plan ahead while I was working and if this comes out great at 140 degrees, I can have it for my next dinner party if I wanted, but I probaly just get the Prime Rib for more than 6, but this we work for a small group.
Oh got some Gator meat I have to cook soon too, before it get to old. |
i will eat the prime beef but no gator for me
|
Gator Ribs are good, the meat is very lean, but it's going to taste about the same no matter how you fix it, sort of like a real moist chicken, I like making gator mc nugets, goes quick at a party.
|
gator nuggets r good, place up here has em , kinda get em to get em for what they are, in reality, they are a greasy nugget, that tastes like hwatever ya smear it with.
|
I would LOVE to try some gator...
