babyseats in a pickup

My girl and her 3yr old are in my truck w/ me alot more now ..i've had the babyseat in the front w/ the air bag turned off......my question is...is it safe to put the baby seat in the back seat? i have a supercab, so the a** portion of the seat is a bit short, width wise

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

just want the kid to be as safe as possible and if that is keeping the babyseat in the front, then she'll just have to sit hick...or in the back

when i was a new father long long ago we had a 1985 f250 supercab and we just put the car seat in the back seat facing the rear like you say the seat seemed a little short but just strapped them in with the seat belt always felt better with them further from the front if there ever was to be a crash or other problems:yeah: and as they got older they faced forward but was always in the backseat

The back seat in the center is the safest place for them!

thx for the info.....guess the back seat it is....only prob w/ putting the seat in the middle would be the fact that it's just a 'lap belt'...but would def. be the most convient...

anyways, thx

When you put the car seat in there climb in the back and put your knee in the seat and put as much weight on it as you can while tightening the belt. Also if you want to be extra safe most police departments or fire departments will install and show you how to properly install the car seat in to your vehicle. All vehicles are different on the latch systems so if you are nervous about it the police or fire department would be your best bet. Hope this helps some it's good to see someone actually asking and worried about it!

my 7 month old sits in the back seat of my truck facing rear. he base or seat is only strapped in with a lap beltin the center seat. i put as much down pressure on it as i can while tightening the belt and i feel pretty confident that he is save that way. more so than if he was in the front seat.

As already said...rear seat is definitely the safest place for all children...put your wieght into the center of car seat and pull the seat belt tight.....also you should still have the teather ancher behind your seatback, hook the teather and pull that tight also, you'll feel that car seat secured itself right in:tu:

Ok why is it the rear seat considered the safest place?? I have broke 3 rear windows over the years from rocks bouncing off the trailer and breaking the rear window.

We are not talking about rocks (by the way I would put the fenders back on your trailer) we are talking about accidents.
