That is pretty cool stuff, it has been out a while IIRC it is a training video from Boeing. I could be wrong but I believe that is what I read some where.

are they suppose to land crooked like that?

jasonfriedlin 08-05-2007 09:30 PM

Yeah, that vid is of crosswind landing certifications, the wind is blowing about 60-70 mph across the runway. Ideally in it blowing directly at you, gives you airspeed but not groundspeed. That's way airports have runways facing in different directions. I'm learning all this stuff because that's hopefully what I will be doing in a few years is flying commercially. I'm workin on gettin my private license now. It's pretty cool stuff

If I can ever save the money to buy an in expensive prop plane I will get my pilots license I love to fly. Taking off and landing are my favorite part, but I also like being 30,000 feet up and all of a sudden drop a few feet. :U:

My dad bought a Cessna 150 about a year ago, i flew it once and was hooked. I'm supposed to go to school in October to fly for a living if it works out. I love it

The B-52 has articulated landing gear and can take off and land sideways and not jerk you back straight when you land. that is the crappy part of landing sidways like that. Gives you whip lash when you land!! LOL!!

It's not exactly fun the first time, the airport where my dad has got his plane has always got a crosswind. It scared the S$% out of me the first time I went up in it

I cant' find the other vid I wanted to put up, it's a view from inside the cockpit of and Airbus during a crosswind landing. Looked for an hour, but ti is awesome to see how much work it takes to get the plane on the ground in one piece
