I have heard of this believe it or not. As for getting it off he needs to use a powerful cleaner and let it soak for a little while then, scrub it in, clean it off, and DRY it. Or he could just replace the glass.

Youve got a friend? Hmmmm...

Anyway,

Try this:

1. Prepare a 50/50 mixture of water and white vinegar.

2. Soak a towel in the mixture and wipe down the area, making sure to keep it wet.

3. Drape the towel on the area for a few minutes so that it stays in contact with the surface.

4. Repeat the above process for severe spots.

5. For larger areas such as glass shower doors, pour the mixture into a plastic spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto the glass, wiping frequently with the towel to help break down the limescale deposits.

6. Rinse and squeegie the area clean. Then buff dry with a clean cloth.

Id try that before hitting it with steel wool.

I have the same problem. I can get them off, but it takes a little bit of scrubbing with windex and I use a scrubber that you use for non-stick pots. I have to do this at the car wash though, because it is the minerals in the well water at the house that cause it when it is drying in the sun.

sounds like doc has a pretty good mix. you can use quadruple 0 steelwool. ya know 0000. the triple0 will work good but i'd start in a small corner first just to be safe. we used the quad0 at the dealership to clean windshields before appliny this rain-x type stuff.
