Got a Question (about pets)
 

Why have a dog if your going to keep it tied up outside 24/7, with hardly any human intervention?? Reason I ask is because I was driving around yesterday, and I seen a puppy tied up to a post, and the only shelter was a cheap ass flipping plastic dog-gloo, and his food dish was empty, and so was his water dish. :argh::argh:

that is so wrong that is not fair to the dog:ouch:

I hate people like that. If your going to have a dog, you damn well better take care of them. It doesn't matter if thier an inside or outside dog.

All too common - when i was out in the country some ass tied a dog to a stop sign and left it there.

We rescued a stray cat (more like ferrale) when we were out there too.

They get em for the kids cause they are just so cute when they're a puppy, but after the first few weeks the kids lose interest and then they aren't a puppy no more. Now they are just somethin that's there because you don;t know what to do with it or your to lazy to even try to find a good home for it.

I get several of em a week dumped by my barn. Just had a mom and a litter of 5 or 6 pups out there yesterday. I'm sure there's some coyotes out there by now with full bellies.:argh::dang: Yep, we the people are so intelligent and civilized.

Just dont get it. My dogs have always had it better than the people in our house, but than again they usally are my best friends :jump:

I got two dogs, and if I'm lounging around the house, they can run in and out from the back yard via a pet door. Otherwise they're with me bombing around town or out of town, or crashed out on the couch/floor. :D

Soot would like to know where they are also. There are times where I get tired of her, but I know that I am glad that I got her at the same time. I might have her outside all day while I am at work, but when I get home she comes in the house.

There was one time i was at a friends house and his next door neighbors had their dog in the back corner of the property in a so called "kennel" consited of chicken wire and whatever else could be pieced together and stuck behind the hedge of bushes you couldnt even see the dog if you wanted to all the dog did was bark whats the thinking behind some people. They are so assinine. I personally dont think that your best freind should be chained up or locked in a 10x10 kennel for hours on end. Just pisses me off :bat:

The only time my dog isn't with me is when I fly somewhere. He rides in the truck and is addicted to the heated seats, yes I turn them on for him. Here he is right now, under my desk. I also don't understand how people can treat an animal like that, it just doesn't make any sense to me:humm:

And no, I didn't put her arm around the cat. She did that all on her own. :D

The people that live beside my office have "cages' for their two dogs. I never see anyone out there with them and when we walk out of the office to go to our vehicles the dogs stand up and look at us wagging their tails just wanting some human attention. I hate it that they are treated like that and I want to set them free....Dakota is spoiled. She used to go to work with me everyday but she doesn't really like Amish and I deal with them alot in my office so she can't be the office dog but she has her own pool:

I see it all too often. I'm a garbage man and in residential areas all day long and it's just a shame. I can drive to probably 50+ houses where the dogs are pretty much neglected. Our little rat (Dachshun/Yorkie) Bingley is a PITA but I love the lil bastard!

PS - you guys got some good looking dogs

Even though she was the shiest female, I love this dog to death. :)

My (now 3 years old) puppy is with me usually 24/7. He is with me at home, on the floor right next to my chair, right now, sleeping next to my desk chair, or at work out in the shop either sleeping on an old rear seat out of a Ford or following one of us around the shop. My shop wouldn't be the same without my Queensland running around. But I didn't get him for a lawn ornament, he's my buddy and thats why he is always with me. My customers and employees have had to get used to it. There is nothing funnier to watch than my Queensland grabbing my tech's shoe while under a truck and pulling him out from under the truck because he wants to play!

You notice also, as you look, that those of us that love our pets, and spend the time with our pets, have phenomenal pets! My dog is not fixed and just turning 3 years old, and minds better than most any dog I have ever met. Partially its because I will whoop his butt if needed, but mostly I think that because the animal isn't starving for attention it doesn't feel the need to act out of desperation to gain attention.

It's the hats Duster. I've had a lot of dogs react to the hat I wear in the winter. I report any instances of what I consider abuse immediately. I have four(three rescues) and they are family to me .

I use to work at a bar and whenever people would go to drink and leave there pets in the car id just call the cops lol

My dog goes just about everywhere with me and well she loves her truck probably more than I do. You can't even mention the word truck around her with out her getting all excited and running to it.

My dog stays at my parents house when I'm away at school, too many people around and no pets in student housing, but she atleast gets 120 acres with a 20 acre lake, eats inside I personaly think that it would be cruel to take her down there and lock her inside an appartment, but she still knows which truck to get in. I came home yesterday, didn't even know she was outside truck still running turned off the radio opened the door and she put her front paws in the truck and just looked at me, it makes the 200mi.(each way) on my truck to come home for 2 days worth it.

I agree! I also find that dogs that are loved, understand their owner better. My Shih Tzu knows if I'm upset, and she will gently hop in my lap and lay there. If I'm hurt ( like I am) she doesn't get in my lap...she's not sure if she can. I want to take my dog everywhere, but I never go anywhere...unless its to walmart...or to go shopping, cant really take her. She LOVES to ride in the truck. Shih Tzus have extreme separation anixity. You can go outside for less than 5 minutes and when you open the door she goes bonkers as if she hadn't seen you all day. I love that about her though. Husband said if I'm gone , Kuniva will just lay around waiting on me to return. Most of the time if I'm gone...he will play with her most of the time to help ease her separation anixity. I'll just be glad when my foot is healed so I can play with her, without worrying she will pounce on my foot.

Breaks my heart to see an animal treated badly. Lost my Great Dane back in the spring, and just got "Micro". He's only 14 weeks old so he's not a monster yet, but he will be soon. 23" and 32lbs at 14 weeks and growing like a weed! I love him to death already!

i got 3 dogs that are great. i envy you guys that get to take them with you all day. i cant take them with i only have a standerd cab for work, and i work around to many farms, they would get lost in a heart beat there. but they do stay at home, and we do have roomey(?) cages for them, inside. they actually spend most their time in them, even if we let the doors open. they kinda like it. kinda like its a bed room for them. they are set up nice and comfy with pilllows and toys. i don't see any problem with letting them in a comforable enviroment, as long as they are safe and healty.

No chance of our mutt ever being called "neglected". Here's a few of Klondike stealing my spot in the bed and hanging out by the camper on one of our trips to Yellowstone.

My two dogs are never left outside. I wish I could bring them everywhere with me but my job wouldn't allow it. One of my guys has a dog that gets left outside all the time and only gets to go in at night if it's going to be below 20 degrees at night. I don't like him for it and my other guys give him hell for it constantly but it doesn't change.....it's too bad because his dog is a sweetheart

Not the hats or the beards....i think it's the smell and the dark clothes. We have done some tests with friends that dressed as amish and she was fine.

around here we all act a little funny to amish:tttt::w2:not just the dogs.....

I drove by there last night, and he was either curled up in a tight ball, or he was inside. I'll be damned if it didn't get down to 32 below.
