gun worth
I have a ruger 10-22T that is in new shape. it has a simmons 6-36 scope. I want to get a .17HMR instead. from what I can see the 10-22 is a little more expensive. would I be able to trade strait up with a dealer? or would I be better to sell it. how much would I be able to get for it

well let me tell you about my 17HMR. experience...About five years ago when the 17HMR. round hit the market i saw it and just had to have one...so i went to my gun dealer and he put me on the list. 5 months later i get this nice marlin 17 laminated stock gorgeous gun. put a nice Nikon scope on it. took it home and shot away...not impressed in the least bit..it shot a decent group nothing to write home about, so i got to thinking huh lets see what it will do a 200yds.. so i got me some cantaloupes and set them at 200yrd.and shot and shot and shot again..well the bullit is fast so it shoots flat but no kinetic energy at all...so needless to say i don't own an 17HMR anymore...but i did make a profit on that gun so there is an happy ending to this story...if someone were to give me a choice between a 22 Mag. or a 17HMR. I'd take the 22 in a heartbeat...
oh what do you want for the ruger i might know someone to take it off your hands

You can buy a new one in stainless for $250.
They range in price new from about $149 all the way up past $400 depending on the model you have, so a lot will depend on that, plus condition.
The Simmons scope isn't worth much on the used market....about the only scopes that hold decent used resale are the high end brands like Schmidt & Bender, Nightforce, Zeiss, Swarovski, etc....even Leupolds go way down when they're used.
