Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, can't be so bad then...right?

Telling people is not an easy task. Not only do you have to deal with the emotions you are feeling, but you also have to cope with the reaction of the individuals you are telling.

From experience, only tell those who would be a great support system.

The biggest challenge is saying the words. Saying those words out loud can release emotions that you may have been suppressing. Telling someone somehow makes it more real.

Although it may be difficult in finding the right words, it is very therapeutic because you are admitting it.

I'm telling my friends in the diesel community because they're a cool bunch of folks who might have nice things to say. Maybe not, but that's okay, too. I've never been a super private person and kinda wear my emotions on my sleeve, so in short....

I have cancer.

Cheers,
Dan-

Whoa Dan,

Well, if you were looking to shock us - I think you did.

All differences aside - I TRUELY TRUELY wish you the best in this fight. Its not going to be easy - but, Cancer CAN be beaten. NEVER EVER think you are beaten and always always be optimistic. Im not a doctor, but like most things in life, attitude speaks volumes and goes a long way.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Take care.

i read this twice hpoing there was a punchline in it somewhere. i can only imagine what you are going thru. i don't even know what to say. you didn't state what your prognosis is and i'm not going to ask. please update this thread as things unfold if you can find the time. i hope we can provide a distraction for you when you need it and keep you thinking about the brighter days. i pray that you and your family receive the strength and guidance that you need to deal with this.

you and your family are in my family's hearts, thoughts, and prayers.

good luck dear friend.

Talk about comin out a left field on ya, WOW. Can't even put into words how sorry I am to hear this, but it's just one more challenge in your life. I suspect it might be the scariest challenge you have ever faced but probably not your biggest one. I don't know how you yourself are taking this, but you have a thousand plus active members on here that are gonna keep up the positive thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Keep the faith, it can make miracles into everyday things.

Mr. Miyagi 07-22-2007 02:50 AM

Prolly shouldn'ta posted nothing......sorry to have pissed peeps off.

It's nothing major, won't kill me. Just freaked me out when I found out about it, that's all. LOL

This is an easy anonymous place to vent about it.

Uncle Bubba 07-22-2007 03:13 AM

I don't think you could find a single peep on here anything but concerned for your health and well being. Many of us have always said these people on here are family, and this is just one more example of it. Vent away, that's the biggest reason we are here.

If you count up the thousands of hours you have spent on these sites through the years, what group of friends do you have that you have spent that much time with.

2141pete 07-22-2007 07:29 AM

Dont think anyone could be upset about that Dan. I have lost family to cancer, I know it is scary. The father of my sisters baby who was supposed to be her husband went into get a mole checked out he had for several years. Long story short they found skin cancer and he didnt make it a year. I am glad it is hopefully something they can take care of. I think you have evry right to vent buddy we will be here to listen. Dont let it get you down.

Wow, Dan. I am sorry to hear the news, but like what was said, it can be beat. Nothing major??? Yea,right. The best thing is once the anger is gone to keep a positive attitude. You are in my prayers. If you need to vent to someone just send me a PM.
