Bear Attack on Plane

An ode to Duct Tape

From the guncase on the struts to the plywood/nuts & bolts on the flaps, this pilot is clearly no stranger to DIY! PMC

Bear attack 2009

Apparently a bear attacked his plane while parked in a remote field in AK. He had not cleaned out the inside after a long fishing trip and the bear smelled it.

He had 2 new tires, 3 cases of Duct Tape and several rolls of cellophane delivered. Then went about repairing the plane so he could fly it home. Gutsy to say the least.

I'd fly that sum-b anywhere....

The original is just canvas.....the duct tape and cellophane is probably stronger. :D

2500HeavyDuty 10-29-2009 10:30 PM

toy4xchris 10-29-2009 10:36 PM

Mr. Miyagi 10-30-2009 12:36 AM

k fellas no guarantees.....just don't lean against the sides too hard and don't make sudden movements and we should be okay for a bit.

:D

Lostnwalmart 10-30-2009 03:27 AM

how about we all go! im down... hmm or should it be up :pca1:

Diesel Powered Rocket 10-30-2009 07:05 AM

I would fly in it. When that plane was new it was covered in painted cellulose fabric (rayon). As long as the airframe isn't broke apart it should be fine. :U:

I seen them flew in worst shape, one was a plane I flew many times and flew again after they reskined the wings after a guy flew through the power lines, he got lucky, him and the plane lived through it,usally don't do that when you play in power lines.

jarrett 10-30-2009 03:20 PM

Shiiiiiii man I have duct taped (100MPH tape) the rubber boots back down to the leading edges on E2C's right before they have been shot off the catapults. It'll take it!! 100MPH tape and safety wire...we can fix anything!!:choochoo:
