California passed AB 962: mail order ammo ban
Well, our worthless assembly, house, senate and RINO governator passed the A.B. 962 Handgun Ammunition Bill last night. Requires face-to-face transaction (banned mail order), requires additional regulations to how the vendor stores ammo, requires a thumb print and personal information (even what salesperson made the transaction!) be stored by the vendor. Does not require a background check but it does require the vendor to keep all your personal info on file and make it available to the police.
This in an effort to stop 'criminals' from acquiring ammo, allegedly. Even though all it takes is one guy with a clean record to buy ammo from in state and sell it to his buddies; or to just drive out of state and buy it anyway. In my mind, on a State level, this is almost as invasive as the Patriot Act is on a national level. Before the midnight deadline Governor Schwarzenegger acted on 685 bills that were on his desk. He signed 456, and vetoed 229. One of the bills that he signed was Assembly Bill 962. It would require handgun ammunition to be kept behind the counter where customers cannot access it without assistance. It would also require gun shop owners to thumbprint people who buy handgun ammunition, as well as record their identification and provide that information to police. The Governor released a statement explaining why he signed this bill.

As Governor, I have sought the appropriate balance between public safety and the right to keep and bear arms. I have signed important public safety measures to regulate the sale and transfer of .50 caliber rifles, instituted the California Firearms License Check program, and promoted the use of microstamping technology in handguns. I have also vetoed many pieces of legislation that sought to place unreasonable restrictions and burdens on firearms dealers and ammunition vendors. Assembly Bill 962 reasonably regulates access to ammunition and improves public safety without placing undue burdens on consumers. For these reasons, I am pleased to sign this bill." |

We got a nut job I'm sure you seen on TV saying the Republicans want everyone to die quick, now he voted right on many votes on bills and seen where he was fighting Wasting waste, but then loses is mind when it comes to the health care bill that the people don't want and not one democrap stood up to say he was wrong. He won't be back in office and I for one don't think we should wait, but jerk his butt out of there quick in a recall to send a message, but on the other hand let them find out in the 2010 elections, time to clean house and hold the new guys feet to the fire to remind them who there suppose to represent in DC |

What an idiot! He does realize that the state of California is hurting for money doesn't he?? How in the hell does record keeping for ammo sales keep the community safe?? Sounds to me like he, along with a bunch of other fools is trying to make the law abiding citizen a criminal.
I'm for voting them all out. It's gut check time. Lets let all of them know what it feels like to not have a job. |

The Calguns Foundation has a seemingly solid plan to take A.B. 962 to the courts, it's apparently got quite a few holes in it, so hopefully that goes through. But that's the quality that our legislators and Rino governor are cranking out. There were 700 some-odd bills on his desk to approve/veto this weekend, all were on par with this trash. |

Wasn't he also complaining here a while back about there wasn't enough revenue and that he wanted to tax marijuana?? Economics is definitely not his strong suit. I think it was said before, but Arizona and Nevada will welcome all of your ammo purchases. You could always move to Oklahoma, we have a constitutional right to hunt and fish in this state..:choochoo:

I've talked on here about moving before and I've entertained available jobs out of state, I might do that before too long but for now I still have a good job and customer base. I'll stay here as long as I can and join with the other productive Californians who are just finding their political voice.
I'm also tired of seeing states like Colorado and Arizona be taken over by a bunch of Californians who left here because of how crappy it is...but then they continued to vote the same F'd up way in their new state...viola, CO and AZ are leaning substantially more towards liberalism than they ever have. If anything, to all the rest of you living in what we call 'free states' (like AL, OK, ID, TX)...let our State be a warning to you guys, you need to do more than just show up at the voting booth. Petition your representatives, write to them, call them, show up at their open house events at their offices. Pay attention to their press releases and the bills they're championing; look up their voting records and make sure they're doing what they said they would. Do that stuff before it's too late and the idiots take over. |

My only reply is to that sentence alone. Since WHEN has the government used ANY kind of information properly?............. As I read somewhere else, the most dangerous criminal to the government is one willing to stand up for his/her constitutional rights. Reading this post makes me believe it even more. |

This bill was the California Brady Campaign Chapters' top priority in this year's state legislative session. The Los Angeles Police Dep't and their L.A. Gun Unit have found it far too difficult to go after actual criminals, so they've been very proactive in turning law abiding citizens into criminals for the sake of their quota and PR face. Let's not turn this into a cop bashing thread, for all the crooked ones there are definitely good ones, too...this ain't about the surface street cops, it's about the chiefs in bed with the Brady Campaign and crooked legislators. At least the legislators are elected representatives and can be dealt with at the voting booth. |

First off, I am from the LA area. Let me say these cops here are not serving and protecting. They will pull me over for my stacks and search my truck because I carry a pocket knife. More than once I have been pulled over and sat on the curb like a common crimal. I dont do/sell drugs, I work as hard as I can for my family, I try to live right, I put my guns in the cab, and my ammo and bolts in the bed. I pay my tags and insurance, pay my taxes, never run from the cops and am nothing but polite. But the other day when i get rear end by an un-insured driver, where are the cops, about 20 mins away.
This plus the ammo ban, I will go to NV or AZ, hell even OR to get my ammo. I like to shot and hunt, and thats my right. Now I hear of a TV ban because they draw too much power. This state is out of control, we need change. And as stated above, all you other states bewarned. Californians are retards, I am one for staying here. They will screw your state over, dont let it happen. Texas is the best state I have ever had the pleasure of living in and visiting. I think I will be southbond again very soon |
Tyler you've got to check out the Calguns Forum and get brushed up on unlawful search issues so you don't have to deal with that hassle as much any more. Seeing a knife/gun case is NOT probable cause for a vehicle search. Sorry you've got to deal with LAPD, they're the most aggressive agency in our State trying to find ways to make criminals out of hard working, law abiding citizens...talk about biting the hand that feeds you!!!
