Finally Mounted the Scope
4 Attachment(s)
Finally got around to pulling the DMS-1 out of the LaRue SPR mount and mounting the new scope & it was actually quite easy to ensure the scope was mounted square & the reticle was square. With the SPR all ya have to do is shim the bottom of the scope with the top of the mount, put a drop of blue loctite on the screw & then tighten the bottom ones 1st & then the top ones & ya are done.
Ended up getting the SWFA SS 3-9X42 variable first focal plane Mil/Mil scope due to it's being a FFP mil/mil scope with the & so far it fits quite nicely, I really like the knobs as they have both a solid tactile and audible click & from what I read each click is 0.1mil each so the mil knobs match up with the mil reticle exactly. Plus it seems extremly easy to loosen the one center screw to reset the turret to zero after zeroing the scope. This might be handy if you zero with one round & then reset the knobs & then shoot/zero another bullet weight and later want to return to zero for your initial load. The glass is crisp and clear & I can't tell any difference in bright light or dusk between this scope and my Leopold & while it's made in Japan it's warrantied by Bushnell so what are the chances it's a Bushnell scope with SWFA packaging... Figure I'll try the mount that came with the scope with the DMS & if it does not work sell it. https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3563...ae1d369d_b.jpg S.S.A.L.T mount with 1" inserts SS-TAC Picatinny rail top 2.25" SS Sun Shade Set of butler creek flip ups Mil Dot Master SS Ball cap SS Khaki Koozie The scope is not real big and bulky, does not make the AR top heavy or unbalanced and that is one thing I was really afraid of after lugging around a M16 with the PVS4, wanted a lighter slimier scope that would balance nicely & add to the sleek lines of the AR instead of stick out like a sore thumb. Heck, the flashlight causes more of a balance problem, but then again it's a tad heavy and uses 3 CR123's. Will see how she lights up the night tonight after dark in combo with the scope. https://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e...6/IMG_4942.jpg Attachment 51287 Attachment 51288 Could not get the camera operator to focus on the knobs worth a crap, but ya can sort of see the markings on the turrets... Attachment 51289 Attachment 51290 Was extremly impressed with how bright the scope is, can see extremly well into lit areas & when pointing the AR at a dark house about 100 yards away the light lit up the area quite nicely, could see the mil dots & cross hairs and would have been able to engage a 2 liter pop bottle via the flashlight without any problem. But the dang blasted thing is muzzle heavy & just plain heavy..:humm::humm::humm: |
