This is the one I just bought. I had a 4 stroke but threw it in the garbage. What a POS. Nothing beats the revs and power to weight ratio a 2 stroke has.....yet. I just wanted something I didn't have to hassle with but had good power and no bump feed head. This one has pre cut strings you just thread into it when needed. So far it takes me about 4 cuttings to use up the string but I have an acre lawn with retaining walls and lots of trees, etc. It's about a 1 minute ordeal to thread the new string if you fart around.

I have to wonder how much twisting and turning can you do with a 4 stroke weed eater? I twist and turn my around a good bit. Do you have to worry about it not getting oil? Does the 4 stroke weigh more?

I personally bought an echo 230 2 stroke and I love it. I've had it for 3 years and starts every time. The bump head works like no other I've had, but If you are not content with that they do make the other head that you feed string to it....just more food for thought

As I look at it Lowes doesnt offer a non-bump weed wacker except the 4 stroke.

well look around then, i suggest redmax/komatsu there very good powerful weed wackers and there light, they are a very commercial unit, we had them where i used to work landscaping and they were the best, much lighter and more powerful then the stihls

I went up to my father and laws last night to try out his 4 stroke cub cadet wacker and I tell you what. It started easy, ran quieter, idled nicer and had more power at lower RPMs. I liked it ten times better than his Stihl 2 stroker. it also has the same or more power.
since I have $60 in lowes gift cards and Im getting more for my birthday and can probably buy the Troybuilt one without any other cash (which I dont have) Im going for that model (4 stroke)

I would say get whichever trimmer makes you happy. Then pick up a rapidload head and get rid of the bump feed head. You can get them in either 2 string or 3 string models. I would suggest going to some kind of lawn service dealer to get the heavier duty models. The one I got is echo I believe. The good thing about these are you can run up to .155 line in them which I buy by the spool. I also make sure it is serrated instead of smooth, again IIRC it is echo also. I have 10 acres with fence, trees, structure, sometimes tall tough weeds and I probably only change strings 3-5 times. The heavier the line the longer it last.

Yeah I own 90 acres so I do put things through the test. Cub cadet and Troybuilts are the same company.

So I think the 4 stroke will make me happy.
