Rug Doctor
Rented a Rug Doctor Today @ Krogers Had like $50 in it decided to give my den (where Im always @) a good Scrubbin , I have a wood Burner in this same room so no matter how hard i try once in a while a piece of bark will fall ...
,,, I got the big bottle of cleaner , for 8 rooms and I have about 15 Sq feet to go and its gone , I have ran it in all directions and talk about NASTY when emptying it My den is 25x25 and must be 9 foot ceilings again ...
This room gets thrashed big time We dont even hardly live in the living room The TV just plays all the time ,

we rented a rug doctor from wallyworld for 24 hours yesterday and today as well....
our need was diff tho....
my wife inherited her mothers house....her mother had cats CATS! CATS
my mother-in-law was in a nursing home and before she passed away we had to trap the last cat and get it out of the house......and board it.....the house still stunk of cat pee.....we've removed almost all the carpets and used the rug doctor on her beautiful hard wood floors.....it worked great but the water coming out of that machine was so bad i really wanted to throw-up....
rug doctor has 2 products that we used, odor eliminator and urine remover....
both worked unbelievably well....cat odor is gone and the wood floors weren't damaged at all.....we're still going to have the walls washed down with soap and water before they're painted and also have the floors refinished ......
stanley steamer is the company that's going to get to wash down all the walls in the house.......aren't they lucky!!!!

Kilz primer before you paint too...

There is no need to wash down the walls if you prime them with KILZ before painting. The kilz will seal the walls, you can also use pro blok from Sherwin Williams. (same stuff better price). The absolute best sealer on the market is called "misty crete" it is used for sealing floors but can be used on walls as well if you use a trigger sprayer or a paint roller.
If you choose to do it yourself just get some bleach/water and use it in a pump up sprayer. Let it dry for a few hours and then use the Pro-block or Kilz. Save yourself some coin.

thanks-a-million i appreciate the advice...
some of the floor boards have yellow spotted stains and i was hoping the stains could be washed off.....but pro blok or kilz will now be a must before repainting.
at first the house stunk so bad i was affraid it would need to be bulldozed or condemned.....but we've got almost all the smell out....
if my wife knew that i told you guys how bad her mother's house stunk she would kill me LOL LOL

some of the floor boards have yellow spotted stains and i was hoping the stains could be washed off.....You can use the bleach water to try to remove the yellow on the floor, it may or may not come out. Just be careful not to saturate your floors with too much liquids. You can also sand the yellow spots out and refinish the areas very easily. If the odor is coming from the floors and you cannot get rid of it look into a product called "gym-thane" it is a sealer used on NBA floors. but pro blok or kilz will now be a must before repainting.

If I were you, I would find someone different then SS to do your walls if you are for sure going in that direction. They are very high priced and the quality is not different than alot of the smaller companies. The main difference is that SS has a million dollar per major market budget on advertising that they have to recover. In the Dallas market they are in the top 3 in highest average price.

These two have it down!!
Use the oil base Kilz or shellac based Zinsser "Bin" primer will work also, easier clean up just use straight ammonia.
