What is Diesel Power thinking

This just ticked me off, sent a note to the editor, feedback, and subscription depts, you may wish to do something similar, but check your renewal rate closely.

This is probably more for the subscription/marketing dept.

Recently I received a renewal notice saying urgent I needed to renew now or my subscription would lapse, "special professional rate" would be $19.97, I logged on to the website only to find that regular subscriptions were $19.95.

What????, I've been a subscribing member since day one, and my "professional rate" is .02 more than Joe Average, seems to me that existing subscribers would be rewarded more than that, as it turns out I had already renewed for $14.98/2yr, but it seems very odd to me that if a subscribing member chooses to only renew for 1 yr at a time they should not have to pay more than the standard going rate.

Just a heads up for you and your marketing team to consider, I'll be putting this out on several of the Diesel web forums as well, poor business IMO to stick it to supporting readership, yes it's just .02 but very poor treatment to those that have been loyal subscribers.

Is it not bad enough that every other page is advertisement upon advertisement that you would squeeze out an extra .02 per subscription, what are you guys thinking?

Yeah they love to send you those things, I have a 2 year subsription and they started sending renewels about 6 monyjs into it. They are just trying to get you to get you to pay for more years. Keep ignoreing them and teh deal gets better, when I renewed for my 2 years it was only like $20 for 2 years.

No offense man, but it's only $0.02, is it really worth getting worked up about?
I've sneezed and lost more money than that.

I sent one of those things in...then I went in person at a trade show and paid cash for my subscription....told the other company to screw off...I already paid for diesel power for three years...now that other company is screwing me....I need to call them...

All I know is that they keep sending them to me also, and I am subscribed till May 2011.

I am no longer subscribing to it, it gets old and not enough tech articles.

kazairl 05-24-2009 12:30 AM

X2 IT was ok for a while but you don't really see any good tech in it. I can learn a hell of of lot more by browsing Comp D for no money at all.

K50 05-24-2009 02:43 PM

x3 That's why I quit all of my magazine subscriptions.

Plus you guys are more honest than some of those idiot automotive journalists will ever be.

Yep... I'm glad I have my Diesel World Subscription. It has 10x the tech. I went to the mail box and was all excited I got my new Diesel World, then I saw it was Diesel Power, It's sitting on the table, I thumbed through it real quick to see what Jason was doing with the 1st gen (nothing in there about it... again) and then have not even picked it up to read yet. :D
