Karate vs Taekwondo

Well we moved chase to a new Taekwondo dojo , its alot closer i liked the Karate Better , but chase has more fun in Taekwondo .

From what i have seen Taekwondo is more physical and Karate is more mental .

But Taekwondo wants you to back up when approached .... and in Karate you stand your ground

Either way its good for chase , and hes excelling in it

Taekwondo is a style of Karate. There are many different styles of Karate. The different styles generally come from different regions of the orient, and emphasize different techniques and moves. Taekwondo emphasizes kicking and footwork. As for the mental part, that generally depends on the instructor.

Tae Kwon Do is also Korean. it means Hand, Foot, Art. i have never taken karate but have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. you wouldn't know if the new place is ITA (International TaeKwonDo Alliance) or USTA (United States TaeKwonDo Alliance) affiliates do you? if so is it a "TaeKwonDo Plus" line of school? if so that is the affiliations i trained with.

Dr. Evil 04-14-2009 01:20 AM

I was close to a black belt until I broke my knee - Ju-jitsu not Karate

LOGANSTANFORTH 04-14-2009 04:36 AM

get him into Ju-jitsu.......then Brazilian Ju-Jitsu........next stop MMA.......:rocking:

Diesel Powered Rocket 04-14-2009 09:12 AM

I agree with LOGANSTANFORTH.

I started with Aikido back in the mid 1980's and thought is was a bit sloppy, then switched to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu after seeing Royce Gracie in a UFC fight in the early 1990's. :U:
