Breaker Box / Circuit Panel
Well my lights started going dim and crazy things were happening , i went down to the breaker box and it was making a funky noise and smelled of electric ....
i stood there like :humm: recalling a video i seen of the power in wire rubbing the insulation off against the box and energized the pannel its self ... oh well a well placed flip of the main stoped the noise so i knew it wasnt the power coming in but now im standing in the dark and tripping over everything to get out of the basement to get to a flashlight ... took the cover off and 2 breakers are not even square D , a 60 amp and a 30 amp , the furnace people put them in there and there semens and dont even fit in my box they dont snap down all the way .. i had a 30a square d so i replaced it , tightened all the wires and grounds and powered it back up and its fine now even tho the 60a dont fit right . So just an FYI make sure all your breakers fit your box |
Luck you didn't get zapped or an electrical fire didn't happen. :ouch::ouch:

whats the 60 amp breaker for?
Might want to pull it until you get a Square D that fits. Think Id be having a chat with the "furnace people" - they should be replacing them with the correct ones. This is pretty damned serious. I have a hard time believing that a Certified Electrician did that work. |
its for the furnace too ! , I bet the breaker is ~$100

I don't get some people when they do a job they do it half assed and expect to be paid twice as much, sure glad you did't have a fire or get hurt. Sounds like smeone needs an ass chewing or better yet the :edit: choked out of them.:madd:

I used to buy breakers all the time off ebay. They go cheap on there from guys tearin houses down or replacing whole panels and makin extra money on the salvage. Never got a bad one.

My guess is DM probably went with a low bid or close to it. In the HVAC world, you generally get what you pay for. My company charges at least twice what my competitors do, but believe me there is more than twice the difference in our work versus theirs. |
