In chases karate class the other night his sensai told them all something that i would like to pass along ..

if your kids are in trouble , like a stranger is trying to take them or something they shouldnt yell help ..

most people dont want to get involved this is fact

he told them to yell FIRE ! and said that your child is sure to gain the attention of other adults in the area

It's too bad that you're right though; most people don't want to help, they'd rather not get involved and walk on by. I called 911 for a guy two days ago that countless people had walked past. He was in terrible shape, he was homeless, but everyone has a right to life.

 

This has been taught in Women self defense classes for years. Don't scream rape scream fire.

People panic at fires .. deep seated emotional fear of being burnt.

People don't think they can help so they don't try.

 

I must live in a strange part of the world because when someone yells help everyone comes running.

 

It's sad but true, you yell help and nobody comes, yell fire and everyone comes running.

 

If you yell FIRE I am hauling *** the other way....although its great advice if you are outside I am not sure that would really work!! We are fortunate enough to live in a area that if a child is screaming HELP someone is gonna find out what's going on..
