Default LS1 Swap?

How hard would it be to swap an ls1 in place of a vortec 5.3? The only thing i could think of that could cause a problem would be the wiring harness and maybe the computer or is all that the same? I'm sure it has been done before. Does anyone no anybody that has done this swap? And is it worth taking the time and $$$$$$ to do it? I just wondering right now because the motor and tranny both have around 265k on the clock and the only major things that went wrong with it was the fuel pump and power steering pump, and the heater core. A lil advice would be nice. I appreciate your opinions and comments guys.

It would be cheaper to do a 12v swap.

DESTROKED: Cummins Conversions Have the motor mounts and some misc. parts you will need.

If you are dead set on a LS1, then talk to the folks at Painless Performance.. They can hook you up with a complete wiring system for your application.

why not just LS1 heads and intake manifold and a new cam in the 5.3. or since you have 265 on the odo put in a new turning assembly to stroke it out and get some higher compression pistons and then put the LS1 stuff on it.

Would the difference in the height of the ls manifold and the vortec be a problem?

no....remember all of these engines are the same, just better parts in the bigger motors, get a 408 stroker kit and some good heads and go from there......

Hot Rod Mag bombed a 6.0 Liter truck motor with high flowing heads, intake manifold, bigger cam, supercharger and alochol injection and put down 750 Horespower with it. i wouldnt suggest this for your 5.3 but it gives you an idea what these LS series engines can put out

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

also might want to get a upgraded 4L60E or put a shift Kit in it.

When ever the motor does go out i'll prolly take and have the trans rebuilt considering it also has the same amount of mileage.
