Firefox and MP3's

Whenever I click on some MP3 links, my Firefox browser blows up and shuts down. I tried listening to the new dieselbombers song this morning and it blew up.

I have to open it with IE. :madd:

Am I missing a pluggin or is this a common problem with an easy fix that anyone knows about?

Thanks

Actually, it says, "Quick Time failed to initialize" and then shuts down.

What version of firefox are you using?
You should be able to go download the quicktime plugin, maybe it didn't install correctly the first time.
What version of quicktime are you using?

If you just updated quicktime, there is a known problem with Apple's software (not firefox) The only fix that I know, would be to go to oldapps.com and install quicktime separately. That should correct your problem.

Would help to know more about what versions you are running?
Also is there an error number after "Quick Time failed to initialize" sometimes it will look something like this (0xc0000034) or it might look something like Error # (number)?

I just finished updating from 3.0.5 to FF 3.0.6... I also downloaded and installed Quicktime player 7.6

Now I get the error, just before FF shuts down:
The Quick Time Plug-in requires the Quick Time System extension version 5 or later.
Quick Time is available from http://www.apple.com/quicktime

Well, I just deleted the npquplugin.dll's from quicktime and firefox. Now I associated it with windows media player.

It works now.

PROPANE!!!

* Close Firefox
* Navigate to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins\
* Delete all of the npqtplugin.dll files: npqtplugin.dll, npqtplugin2.dll, etc.
* Navigate to C:\Program Files\Quicktime\Plugins\
* Delete all of the npqtplugin.dll files
* Reset your Quicktime mime settings

If you receive the error, "The QuickTime Plug-in requires the QuickTime System extension version 5 or later", follow the instructions above for removing the plugins.

Also make sure you don't have any of the old plugin's still left within FF.
