That happened several years ago about 70 miles south of here in Columbus. If I remember right, the sharp shooter used a .308 at a range of 70 or 80 yards.

The madman kept moving, so that made it harder for the sniper, now he has that gun he shot out of the madman hand as a trophy !!!

I could make that shot with a scope and a fence post within 2 or 3 inches...

i could do it, but my luch would be more like hitting him in the head and the ricochet would knock the gun out of his hand. either way though the threat and tax burden to society is diminshed :5:

Yeah it happend in Dublin Ohio The Sniper member of the Swat Team lives in Marysville up here by me. He is a real cool guy I go shooting with him. Old Navy Seal now on SWAT.

Being an old army sniper, I could probably make that shot. But I don't envy the guy that HAD to make that shot. That was a really really nice shot !!

That was a very very bad shot. That shot made it harder for police officers to justify shooting a man with a gun. It raises the question of why didn't you just shoot the gun out of his hand. Now if that was a set up for a trick shot it was a great shot.

Why does this spark everyones attention? A trained SWAT sharp shooter that can hit a 1.5" square from 70 yards with a .308 and that $1000 scope? I would be more amazed if it was at 500yards with iron sights....IMO they should have just shot him to begin with...

Or better let let him shoot himself.:c:

BigDiesel has a good point. I think if i shot a hell of alot more or was on the SWAT team i could make the shot.

Yeah, not really that big a deal. From 80 yards out its well within the Point Blank Range of the setup. If the rifle is zero'd at a hundred yards its basically putting the gun in the crosshairs and squeezing off a round. Now, the ricochet would be about impossible to control, so the perp got real lucky he didn't take it in the face, off a leg, or in the chest.

to be honest, he missed, 'cause you know deep down that dude was tryin to hit the trigger so he could go the heck home !:argh:
