Bank Two?

Dad's truck has thrown a code a p0430 code. This i on an 07 Silverado classic 4.8L . On the little write up on his receipt says it's on bank two. So from what i've gathered it's an O2 sensor on bank number two. Ok not a problem to fix. If you know the difference between the banks. So my million dollar question is which is bank two? any help would be great guys and gals. Thanks, Lucas

Bank 1 would be on the side that has #1, 3, 5, or 7 cylinder, which for GM is on the drivers side. Bank 2 would be on the side that has #2, 4, 6, or 8 cylinder.

On a Ford is it also the bank that contains cylinder #1?

Only difference that Bank 1 on a Ford would be #1, 2, 3, and 4 instead of #1, 3, 5 and 7 on GM's?

And Chrysler uses the same labelling system as GM, right?

Cummins refers to the front 3 cylinders as bank 1 and the rear 3 as bank 2.

p0430 pertains to the bank-2 downstream sensor, whis is the one behind the cat. the code definition is for catalyst efficency. there are specific codes that will detail faults to the sensor itself and this is not one of them. this code p0430 basically is telling you the catalytic convertor is not working or cleaning the exhaust gas properly. before you decide repairs i think the federal warranty emissions coverage is 8yr 80k miles. so you might check with a dealer. cat convertors are real expensive.

If I remember correctly, this truck has well over 80k. Fix it Lucas, I know you can do it. :U:
